So my kitty is pretty sick and I went to the vet, got meds and he said she should start feeling better in a bit, which she has begun perking up and drinking/going to pee. But she is barely eating.
I have tried many wet cat foods and even stuff like low sodium chicken soup and sardines.
She licks stuff, but won't "bite" the food. She isn't eating her dry food.
I've checked her teeth and none look bad. (I use cat toothpaste every other day on her.)
I know it's not her medicine that is doing it, since it's a gel that gets rubbed on her inner pinna and isn't upsetting her tummy.
What can I do to make her eat? I've heated it up, added some cod liver oil which she liked the taste of before.
But I can't figure out anything else.
She is 3lbs at 8yrs old. We need her to at least gain 2 more lbs.
would a raw diet help?
please HELP!

How long is 'in a bit'?  In other words, how long has it been since she started the meds and since she's been eating regularly?  Have you called your vet to ask about her not eating?

Short term, you could try baby food.  I used it with a couple of kitties I had with kidney disease who didn't want to eat sometimes.  You'd need the kind with just meat and gravy--no garlic, onion, or anything else added.

She has been on it since Umm..March third. She hadn't been eating regularly since I think for a week. I am going to call the vet tomorrow to ask. And I am gunna buy baby food tonight to try.

Glad to hear you're going to check with the vet.  Be sure the baby food is something like this, just meat and broth:

My kitties go nuts for Gerber 2nd Foods Chicken & Gravy and Turkey & Gravy.  You can always add a nutritional supplement (the kind used by raw feeders; for meat without organs or bone) to make it a complete meal.

Best wishes!  I hope your kitty feels better soon.

Raw is worth a shot! Aside from baby food, you could also get some Nutrical which is a high calorie, vitamin and mineral supplement. It comes in a tube and comes out like a paste/gel. I have to keep it hidden because two of my cats will literally chew through and eat the tube!!! Both of them lick it directly from the tube, it's their favorite treat. Lol! Kitten milk would also be good to try, I like Pet Lac but other brands such as KMR are good too. Maybe a raw egg? I know several picky cats who go NUTS for Fancy Feast Tender Turkey wet KITTEN food. For some reason it's just super enticing to them. Between the FFTT, Pet Lac and Nutrical my walking skeleton put on a good bit of weight when she was little and got spayed. The anethesia and antibiotics (had to be cut open "more than normal") gave her an iffy appetite and she was again, a walking skeleton. It was awful. Thin to start but spaying her almost brought me to tears when I saw how awful she looked at pick up. She's one of my Nutrical thieves and very healthy with a hearty appetite these days.

I hope your baby starts eating and feeling better! Keep us updated on how everything goes.

We tried Friskies and she went nuts for it for about two days! But now she isn't eating again :( she is still peeing and drinking water, but now I am so desperate that I am syringing wet (mixed with water) into her mouth.
