The pattern as such, black  on the top of the head and black tail, is called for Van pattern.

But van pattern has usually white body color, so his coloring, isnt common...    Im a little stuck, and in ave, really.

Whatever it is , its not everyday  occurance.

I suppose his bear-alike appearance is because its a quite young kitten.  It may become to differ when he becomes older.  May even differ quite a lot.

Good luck!

It could simply be a dirty kitten that got into some ash. The dirt/ash would be hard to see in the black areas but clearly visible on the white fur.

Yep, he's a dirty little guy :D. Probably ash because dirts tends not to stick so evenly, I think he's had a good roll in the ash heap. With a bath he'd be black and white.

Cinderella  back again, this time as a boy.  (Cinderella means Ash-kid, as I understand it).

Great markings - very even.  hope to see a photo of him post-bath!

I once brought home a kitten that was rescued off a snow bank in a parking lot.   I didn't know anything about cats and I thought he was just an overall tan colour.  I ended up giving him a couple of baths and once we got the road grime off him, he turned out to be a gorgeous red-orangeclassic tabby with white trim.  He was so dirty when I got him I didn't even know he had white feet and a white bib!  He was just 6 or 8 weeks old, put up with the bath no problem (I think he was thankful to get clean.)  He was a wonderful companion for many years...
