So little over a week ago my one cat gave birth to a liter and I have another cat who is pregnant and due soon. My Question is, today my pregnant cat was trying to nurse my other cats kittens.. Does that mean that she is getting ready to go into labor soon?? And no I do not allow my pregnant cat to play mom to her sisters babies.

Yes, it might. When pregnant cats start producing milk, it means that the kittens should be born in at the most 48 hours from that time. Try to keep the kittens separated at first or it might lead to territorial issues and confusion between the two momma cats. Good luck with the kittens!

Suckling does somewhat stimulate the contractions, and thus, may provoke forwards the delivery.

but I think its only if she is really ready, so it just hastens up what is anyway going to happen.   Ie I dont think it will cause a premature delivery (which is dangerous to the premature kittens).

After the kittens are delivered and everything is OK, the safe is to keep the two litters separated.

But if the two females are best friends, they may want to share their litters and share the work.   It has its dangers, if one is taking over completely, for example.

But the cooperation as such isnt dangerous.

Free living cats in nature do often so.

Im sending in our usual links.

You are warmthly welcome with reports and further questions.

(Ps, Unless you are a breeder, please to plan on spaying them, when they are done with the weaning)

Good luck!

My cat gave birth to all 5 of her kittens last night. Once I am able to figure out the genders in both litters whichever gender has the least is the one that is getting fixed.

If money for fixation is a problem, you can perhaps  manage to deal a group rebate from the vet?

Also, there may be some low cost spay clinic nearby?
