Hi Rosa...I too am new to this site and came accross your post. Wish i knew more about what to do in your situtation or if its "normal" or not. You might want to call an after hour vet clinic just to put your mind at ease. i hope everything goes okay and she delivers healthy kittens.

It depends on what sort of sack is it.  Is the sack big enough to cantain a kitten?  So probably it is, and the kitten is stuck.   Call a vet if unsure, as said earlier. The vet will know what follow up questions to give.   Be prepared to rush in.

If a kitten has stuck, and the situation is desperate, you can help to draw out simultaneously when she pushes.

But if she doesnt pushes at all it may become greasy.  So wait to the vet if possible.

If the sack is just a little one, you can wait and see.   We had not far along some such example.  A little sack, way to little to contain anything, hanging outside vulva in hours.  It wasnt necessary to do anything.

The high preg purring doesnt not merely meens she is calm.    She may be also in distress, trying her outmost to calm down herself...

Anyway, you posted your post 3 hours ago.

How is it going?

I will send our usual links, many of them on birthing, and some tells also about possible complications.

Please come with reports and further question!

Good luck!

Most of these links have been readied by our forumist  Red Top Rescue:

We have a good collection of articles in the Cat Health section which you can access by scrolling up to the brown bar, clicking on Articles, and then choosing the Cat Health section and scrolling through the choices.  To make this super easy for you, I am copying the links regarding birth, delivery and newborns for you here.  After reading this information, let us know if you have any more questions.  And good luck with your approaching new arrivals.

My cat went through this 2 weeks ago, laboured all night went to vet, they induced she had 3 kittens. her birth canal was too narrow and so first born died 4 days later and second one has flat chest syndrome, actually now they say it is pectus excavatum due to the fact that mamma has narrow birth canal 3rd kitten is doing well, your mamma needs medical attention stat, stay calm and be gentle with her , I rubbed my mammas belly as much as possible and it helped her. I would get your mamma cat to the vet, she sounds like she is in disstress. Good luck.
