Could be, just let her know to leave mom alone now for some privacy and quiet time.

I'll check back in about 45 mins.

Sounds like the family member got too close for comfort, just don't in your room and leave her alone for quiet time awhile

Yes, she is super protective now, a side of her you have not seen before, but it's her maternal instincts, it doesn't make her a bad girl, it simply is to protect them and shows just how much she loves them.

I would make sure she has privacy, that's a big deal for her in the first several days/week, after then she will settle down a bit, but not too much yet.

Also, for someone to get scratched on her face means she was just too close for mom's comfort, so try to keep everyone out of there.

Of course everyone wants to see the kids but ask them to understand the mode she is now in.

This time is different, it her maternal instincts. She will do anything to protect her babies and make sure they are safe

Best to just give her some calm, private time for a while.

As for your husband, some cats get what's called overstimulated when they are being pet.

It's strange I know, but a cat can be getting pets and as happy as can be, purring away and all, then suddenly spin around and attack that person.

Confusing but sounds like that's what happened with him.

BTW, I HAVE to ask, why are you NOT getting her fixed??

We LOVE hearing that here!!

MUCH better for momma's health, future babies health, and the less born in such an overpopulated animal, the better for the countless who are born unwanted and killed due to the lack of homes.

If only more were as smart and caring as yourself about the cat world it would be such a better place, so thank you!
