Hi, I have 3 3.5 week old feral babies (they'll be four weeks Thursday) and they don't want to take a bottle or syringe. Two of them are eating a little bit of kitten milk mixed with wet food, but the other one doesn't want anything to do with bowl. He does lick a little off the end of my fingers. Any suggestions on how to either get him to eat the food or take a bottle or syringe? They've only been away from mom since last night, but I don't want to wait until they're in bad shape to ask for help. Thanks in advance!

Oh and how long do they need to be stimulated?

We trapped mom too but she was too stressed being in captivity and stopped eating and started rejecting the babies.

My Rollie girl was an abandoned baby.

Have you tried making the bottle more tempting? Like making sure some milk is on the nipple? Sometimes it was so difficult to get her to take the bottle, she would just spit it out. What worked for me was, having her sitting on my lap (usually on a pillow so she would be higher up) and I would gently hold her still by her neck sruff and put the bottle in her mouth, and squeeze some. Most of the time that did the trick!

As for stimulating, you mean to make them potty, right? Do it every time you feed them.

You got good tips above.  Also, wrapping the botle in fleece does help some.  Fleece feels for them almost like fur.

A problem is, as he was hitherto used to get milk from momma, the bottle isnt as enticing at all!

So it is common you must try several times, trying to entice as well you can.

And thus, using a needleless syringe is often easier.   He doesnt need to "draw" [suckle] actively, its enough he swallows.

Syringe in the corner of the mouth, slowly at first, till you are sure he is swallowing actively.  Tummy down, head up...

Continue with reports!

Good luck!

Everyone is now eating well, it takes a little bit to get the 2 boys to eat but the girl goes ight to the dish to eat. The one kitten will only eat if he's in my lap, but at least he's eating

Good you do invent individual solutions.  As long as it works, are all happy.     :)
