Hello,
We recently adopted Wolfy on the 2nd of March. She was a stray, and the woman who had found her had her vaccinated and everything, even paid her adoption fee. It seems odd she would go though this much trouble for a cat she found on the streets, but perhaps there are good people out there.
But we noticed some strange behavior. She constantly wants outside, she is very vocal and almost does a yowling sound when at the window. She is very friendly, loves attention. We thought maybe she was in heat.
But if course, we only recently adopted her. And this is the only personality we know if her to have. Maybe she is just a vocal kitty that loves to be outside.
We took her outside, and she spent most of the time sniffing around the house and squatting (it looked like maybe she was peeing).
We also noticed when we pick her up, something wet will come from her belly. We squeezed her nipples and a liquid comes out. Though we don't think it's an infection, there's no swelling, redness or irritation.
Now about the spayed part. We adopted her on the 2nd, and when we were approved, she was only at the shelter for four days. If she was spayed or shaved recently, her tummy fur would be much shorter. The woman at the shelter said the woman who found her had her spayed, but upon going over the vet records we received, there was nothing about a surgery. But on the very last page, it said (in handwriting) "they shaved cats belly and found a scar from spaying"
These vet records are from January 19th.
When our cats were spayed, it took at least 5 months for the fur to look normal again, but even now their fur is a different length. Wolfy's tummy fur is about an inch long.

Does this seem odd to anyone else? Could she possibly be in heat, or even pregnant?

Welcome to The Cat Site. I don't really know, but I would try to talk to the vet/person who wrote the notes in the chart about spaying. It is possible the vet missed a tiny tiny portion of the uterus, etc. Also, I wonder if simple blood work would show something, i.e., increase in estrogen?
Good luck, and keep us updated.

Thanks again Ritz for the help!
Because she was a stray, nobody knows who exactly did the surgery. We were told she was spayed when the woman who found her took her to the vet, but the paperwork said they just found the scar.
We might just take her into our vet and have him take a look. I never thought about the pieces of uterus or estrogen before, that could be a big possibility.
We hope she isn't pregnant, as our kitty with FHS and FAD would become very stressed by the new kittens. But of course if she is, we pulls isolate her in her own room.
Is it possible to have the extra pieces left behind removed? If that's the case.

Yes it is possible to have the extra pieces removed. Note that if she IS pregnant, that would of course terminate the pregnancy (and kind of answer the question was she really spayed).
That she has liquid coming out of her nipples is (to me) just plain weird. I do think you should take her to the vets. Or since you probably already have a relationship with the vet for your kitty with FHS/FAD, give him/her a call and ask his advise.
PS: Ritz has FHS. Yeah, kittens could be a stresser.

Oh please do! Glad you got an appointment with the vet. Peace of mind, if nothing else.
