Is this normal?

My cat's vet recommended he have his glands squeezed. So I took him in on Friday for that. The tech said everything looked alright when he did it. Yet, now my cat has been pooping every few hours. Sometimes it's a normal amount of poop, sometimes it's just a small piece. He's still eating and drinking and playing. Yet, he won't groom himself down there. Surprisingly he's letting me wipe his bottom. And last night he let out a meow or two that sounded like he was in pain. He then went to poop again and nothing came out. Yet, he then wiped his bottom on my carpet and a tiny slimy, squishy piece was left on the carpet. Is this normal behavior for a cat after having his glands squeezed?
