I have a ton of cookbooks. They're all over the place in the house and I'm considering culling some of them, although it will probably kill me to do so.  I don't buy a cookbook anymore unless it's one that I think I'll really use. Nor do I subscribe to many cooking magazine (just Cook's Country and America's Test Kitchen) anymore. I don't do Pinterest at all....did subscribe, but when I started getting all these emails about this person and that person following me and realizing I don't know these people and when I talked to the people I did know, they didn't know they were were following me. That's creepy and I deleted my membership. Pinterest seems very invasive to me sometimes, kind of like FB, with all the emails I was getting from them.

I go to allrecipes.com pretty much every time I need a recipe for something. I also check out our recipe section here on TCS quite often. And I check out a few cooking blogs from time to time. Often, I talk to friends to see what they have that's tried 'n' true, too. I also tend to fall back on my old tried 'n' true recipes way too often, esp the ones that I know Rick really enjoys.

What do you do when you need a recipe for something?

Tumblr is where I usually get my recipes. I don't use one specific site but they just come across my dashboard depending on who I'm following on there. I do follow one blog: http://foodffs.tumblr.com/

Edit: And I also watch Food Wishes on YouTube! I've never tried any of his recipes but they all look delicious

Wow, I didn't know Pinterest was so sneaky! I got those emails too and just turned them off. And here I thought my friends liked me and followed me willingly... Haha!

I usually just google the recipe,  Unless it comes up with one from Ina Garten I usually avoid the Food Network site.  All of the recipes but hers always have a long list of ingredients many of which I know would be hard to find.

I'm not a great cook by any stretch of the imagination. I like to use All recipes.com . I also cut them out of the health food magazine. I can't see the point in buying cook books anymore, when you can get great recipes off the internet for free.  Also some friends having given me some as well. Epicurus is ( spelt wrong I'm sure.
). I tried one, a customer left at the store, that I was working on at the time. It was for strawberry cake. Considering I"m a beginner to moderate cook,I felt pretty proud of having made it.

It was a lot of work and very time consuming as it had a lot of ingredients but boy was it tasty!

I love allrecipes.com also. I do go to Food Network's site occasionally but only for certain chefs/cooks. I love Alton Brown, Ina Garten and my guilty pleasure fave, Paula Deen. Allrecipes is my go to 99% of the time

I used to use All Recipes.com, until I found the updated web site had so many pop-ups and was very confusing..

I subscribe to Cooks.com.

I get updates from them, but it is mostly for buying things.....but he recipes are still on line.

I have lots of recipes..on FB, I subscribe to Lidia Bastinach, and Jacques Pepin (my idol)..

I belong to a semi-private cooking forum. We have known each other for years and thru many forums. These are people I really like, and consider friends... If I have a question, I do not hesitate to ask them..

I also look things up on the foodnetwork.com.

I do occasionally buy food network magazine, cooks illustrated~~basically what goes along with my ideas...

I do use google.. and then I look to see if that recipe sounds good..if not, I tweak it, look further, or ask for advice..

I pretty much have a lot of recipes..

I also like Alton Brown from the Food Network.  I tried a couple of his recipes and they were so good....

I use Epicurious frequently.  Probably my most utilized if I need a recipe. Their database houses recipes from Bon Appetit and other magazines which I used to subscribe to, Gourmet being one which is now out of print.

A lot of times, I'll just google what I'm looking for, or a set of ingredients I have on hand to see what pops up visually.  I like looking at photos. If I like the way the food looks, then I'll read the recipe.

I do use Pinterest at times.  I've never gotten notifications so maybe I turned them off when I signed up.  I've been there for a few years at least.

EDIT: I also follow a lot of well known chefs on Twitter and FB, so there's always that also.

From random places: TheKitchn.com, Real Simple Magagzine and the web site, Martha Stewart LIving Magazine and web site, Food Network, various cookbooks I've taken out from the library, the food section of the local newspaper. If I have ingredients but no clue what to make with them, I just Google for a recipie.

I get recipes from all over, Six Sister's Stuff, Delish.com, Life made Delicious, I Heart naptime, Kraft Cookbook, Although 90% of the time I will alter the recipes instead of making it by book. Especially the Kraft recipes, They like to gear their recipes towards using 'All Kraft products!' and a lot of it ends up bland and high-cal. For Example, I'll use cream of chicken (or cheddar) soup instead of cream cheese, or instead of sauteing in Kraft salad dressing, I'll use olive oil and spices (or chicken broth).

Thanks for all the great ideas!

Big Alton Brown fan here. And I love Ina, too. They both have very good recipes. Ina's are a bit heavy on the oil and butter, but I've learned that I can turn those amounts way down and still come up with a good dish.

I re-activated my Pinterest account and turned off ALL email notifications, so hopefully I won't get bombarded with emails anymore.

Thanks, guys!

I use Pinterest and google, often using one from Allrecipes. I've also had luck with the Food Network site and cooks.com for local specialized recipes.
