Do you know what the parents are? Unfortunately it's hard to tell unless you know the true breeds of the parents.

Looks like a Tabby to me though.

How old is kitty, he looks so cute and tiny! :)

Just going off of markings, I have to say "just" a tabby. Though certainly some gorgeous markings! But, on a whole, unless there are papers to accompany the kitten, it is just assumed to not be purebred.

I hope this baby gets to spend a few more weeks with its momma as it is still very young. Best if it can stay with momma *at least* until 8 weeks. Preferable until 10-12 weeks.

Keep us update!

According to the people he's getting it from the dad is a registered bengal and the mom is unregistered bengal.

Dad sure looks like the real thing, but unless you have papers to show that he is a pure bred Bengal he'd be classed as a tabby. Not that it matters, he's a gorgeous kitten.

He seems to trust what he's getting but I'm a little leary. We aren't picking it up until the end of April when it's ready to go home

I'm not to worried about it actually being registered as it's just a family pet. I'm more worried that he's paying for something that isn't what it's stated as.

If they are asking a lot of of money for him, I'd be careful too. If you want a pure bred kitten it's best to go to a certified breeder. If they are just asking for a small re-homing fee and you're happy to have a pet-quality cat with no papers then it's a different matter.

They are asking 800 for him. They told my hubby that the reason they had no papers on the mom was because the lady they got her from wouldn't give them because they wanted to breed her

He's going to be loved no matter what and like I said, he's going to be part of the family no matter what. I'm just a little worried about him paying that for a tabby lol

If they are asking that much for him make sure he's been tested for FIV and FIL and that he's had his first round of vaccinations. Make sure you get the original certificates for these. Try to wait until he's at least 12 weeks old before you accept him, you'll avoid a lot of behaviour problems in the future if he stays with his Mum for a few extra weeks.

You could also ask them to have him neutered before you take him. 12 weeks old is a good age to do this.

It's expensive to take care of a cat. It's not unreasonable to expect the original owners to pay for blood tests and vaccines if they're asking $800 for the kitten.

He's a sweet little guy, I can understand why your husband has fallen in love with him.

This sounds like a quite peculiar reason.  It should have been vice versa.

Anyway, if the mom is a bengal - she may be, she is although surely of pet quality.   And Im rather sure, they did breach the contract with the seller of the mom.  Whom surely didnt wanted them to breed on her.*

I see on the first pic there are other, tabby kittens.  I suppose its the litter mates?  Who, alike your candidate, are more looking like mom than their champion father?

How do they looks?    Alike bengals, or alike sweet, but rather regular tabbies?

You must deem yourself if it is worth for you to pay 800 bucks for a pet quality bengal, where you dont have papers.  You cant   participate in any shows in the bengal class - without chances of winning any titles because of the pet quality, but it may be fun anyway.  You can of course Show him in the HHP class, but that you may do with almost any nice, pretty and sociale moggie.

*breeding animals arent not always of show quality themselves, as long as they are decent,  healthy and sound, AND of very good lineage.  But in such a case, all the certificates would follow with them.

Thank you for all the help. Kitten is coming with vaccinations and all testing. We have decided we definitely are getting him. Also saw pictures of his charcoal brother today and almost told the hubby I wanted him

There is almost always a good reason to have two kittens / cats.  The can play with each other, they do have company with each other.  It cost a little more of course, but it is really easier to have two cats, whom are pals, than just one cat.      Especielly from such a lively sort as Bengal, its practically a most.

Of course if you are tight on money, the companion doenst must be a bengal for 800 bucks too.   You may pick up a nice looking cat from a shelter for example.  As long its social, tough and wanna lotsa of play...

This bro, with all his blackie, the spots are visible.   As the breeder, you will perhaps get a discount for taking two?  Its quite common.  After all, its important for any breeder their "children" get a good home, and they do have a suitable and proper company.  So its very common to give discount to buyers of a pair.  Not because it makes their business easier, but because its better for the cats.

ps.  The second kitten seems younger?   Is it an old photo, or do they have two different litters, delivered a couple of weeks apart?
