Hello! My 1-yr-old cat suddenly decided she doesn't want to eat her wet food.  The vet prescribed her to eat 2 pouches (of 85g each) and 1/4 cup of dry food per day since she needs to lose weight. She has been on this diet since Nov. 2014. But she is an active cat, running around the yard, loves to chase balls, birds, etc and of course, wrestle with her mommy.

Just this week, I noticed she will eat half of the wet food and all of the dry kibble. One day she will do this, and then eat the entire bowl the next meal.

She is still very active, playful and her poop/urine levels are normal.  Should I take her to the vet?

Thanks!!

I forgot to add that she has been eating a lot of grass and bugs in the yard. No pesticides here, so that isn't a worry. She loves playing with the water in the faucet, too. Thanks

you could call your vet. since your cat is on a diet, you want to make sure she gets a minimum amount of calories. don't want her to lose too much weight too fast. you might be able to give her more dry food when she doesn't eat all of the wet.

Thanks Detmut! Unfortunately here in Brazil, vets don't let you call them and ask questions. They demand that you go into their office for them to check the animal out. I can't wait til I move back to the US where vets are more accomodating.

I talked to some other people who said that I should switch out the wet food brand and give her a bit more kibble. She is on a diet to lose weight since she has these saddlebags. I will schedule an appt for this week.

But I gave her a can of tuna and she ate it. She also ate her kibble.

Not sure if this is related, but she stopped sleeping in my bed the past 2 nights. Slept on the couch and out on the patio rug (it's fall here, a balmy 70 at night).

Thanks!
