I have 7 cats in my household.

5 females and 2 males.  All neutered and spayed.

4 of my females are friends and/or coping with each other.  They are around 6 years old.

One female came in later and she is just over 3 years old, already bigger than most of my female cats.

Trudy (her name) is okay with all others, but my fluffy Janie (just over 6) hates her and chases her given any chance.

How could one train cats to stop the hate?

Now, with my recent addition - two 6 month old male kittens - the situation slightly improved, but only when they are around.

The fluffy Janie will not chase Trudy when boys are in the way - she is the sweetest person, and loves everyone, but hates Trudy.

I feel so sorry for my little Trudy.

Can anyone give an advice?

Ah, poor Trudy
. I don't have too much knowledge on this subject, but I have been in a similar situation. I had my cat Simon for about 1 to 2 years before I got my other cat Paulie, and lets say it was not love at first sight. Simon hissed and tried to fight, and I felt so sorry for my little Paulie. After a few days of "I don't like this new cat", Paulie kinda grew on Simon and they slowly became friends and have been ever since. So maybe try to give it a few days and the feelings towards Trudy might change. Sorry if this did not help too much, but good luck with your cats!

How long have you had Trudy?  Do you have cat trees, shelves or places they can get away from each other?  Have all of them been spayed.neutered?

Janie may feel intimidated by Trudy's size. Do they size eachother up before chasing? (Standing on their tippy toes, arching their backs and wiggling their tails)?
Since Trudy is a much larger cat, she would be intimidating to much smaller cats.
Would you consider Janie being the Alfa of the group? If so, she may be trying to tell Trudy that she is Alfa, and she won't step down.
If things get out of hand and very physical, it may be best to separate them and just have them get use to eachothers scent first.
They will probably settle their dispute over time on their own.
You can try a product called Feliway, this will introduce calming pheromones. Vets reccomend it for introducing new family members

Thank you.  Any little bit helps.  Trudy is loved by everybody, and even my new 6.5 now month old neutered boys protect her whenever they can.

Janie only.  I just wish harmony among my all 7 cats!

Thank you Mooch.

Yes, I have plenty places for cats all over our property.  They are inside/outside cats.  All my cats and spayed/neutered.  Would never expose them to otherwise life.

I had Trudy for just about 3 years, whist my other girls are 6 to 6.5 years old.

Trudy adopted herself - came as a grown feral kitten around 4 month old in good condition but very hungry she was.

She got all the vaccinations, was spayed, has regular treatments for worms/ticks/fleas as any other with our vets.

Since Trudy came - Janie disliked her NOT straight away, and Janie is the sweetest person I know - she always accepted any new addition to our family, and is still so sweet (except towards Trudy).

I noticed that Trudy was not looking kindly towards Janie (who was the leader of the feline family then).

Trudy even made friends with our only one dog (who is a cat lover and kind of a 'cat' herself).

Janie's late sibling Johnie also disliked Trudy because of his sister, but over this time Trudy is unhappy because of the relationship between herself and Janie.

Perhaps a younger girl fighting for a leadership?  But to me she just wants piece.

Just to let all of you know - we are not giving Trudy up ever.  She is our baby too, , just need some fresh thoughts and advice to help our situation.

Thank you missttufts!

Yes, Trudy is larger than Janie by now (but not heavier).

Well, Trudy is still scared of her.  Janie's size is enlarged by her fluff, she is DMH, whilst all other of my felines are DSH, including Trudy.

I can't determine who would be the Alpha now.  First it was May (my first adoption), than Janie with support of her late sibling Johnie for a while.  (Johnie was huge cat and died in April last year).

Now I would assume - Janie is still alpha or maybe Ambie (little younger, samller, but smarter cat).

If I'm to say - Ambie, and even my almost 7 month old new boys can chase Janie, but the fact is - she lets them to do that and enjoys the play (like I said in previous posts - Janie is a very kind person).

So, perhaps Janie is still the alpha in our family.

Yes, Trudy does not accept it, I suspect she could want to be the alpha cat (though I'm not sure about it - she is scared of Janie most).

I do hope that all will settle before it's too late, but I don't want to lose Trudy over this dispute between them.

Janie is about 3 years older than Trudy, and Janie had a injury too (lost her one life so to speak), and I don't want to see young Trudy beating up Janie when she becomes older.  That I will not allow ever.

I want to say THANKS to all who replied.

Any little bit helps.

I am sorry for my late responses, because I gave up hoping that anyone would reply to this.

Any other little suggestion is most welcome, and I truly mean it.

Also, I have catteries all over the house with shelves - in my bedroom, lounge, cottage, wendy-house - everywhere!  We (My husband and I) basically designed our home for our feline kids.

We have lots a scratching material for them - lots of trees in the garden, ALL of our furniture also allowed (old - but for the benefit for our cats).  They also have scratch-toys and plenty of any toys in our home.

I, being the youngest in the family play with all of them with interactive toys as well.
