We have a new rescue cat who is a 15 month old male domestic long hair. He came from a home where he was not well taken care of and was on a horrible diet (low quality dry ferret food) we have gotten him on a healthier dey food diet but when we tried to introduce him to our other cats wet food brands (tiki cat and hound & gatos) he wanted no part of it. I am just wondering if anyone has any wet food transition suggestions? I thinking we may have to start out with the lower quality brands and eventually work our way up to the higher quality stuff like tiki cat. Does anyone have any suggestions for canned foods we could try out and work our way up with? Thanks!

Here are tips: http://www.thecatsite.com/a/transit...-to-a-new-type-of-food-canned-raw-or-homemade

Don't worry about the high end brands of canned foods. IMO, they're not necessary at all unless you have concerns about specific ingredients.Plus they're pretty expensive and sold at independent non chain pet store. Foods somewhere in the "mddle range" such as Wellness and Blue Buffalo and other brands available in chain pet stores are more affordable to feed. Fancy Feast is a good place to start at first. Many cats like that and the wide variety of flavors and textures available. It's generally suggested to feed whatever brand of food that your cat is happy eating (most important) and you can afford and can find in the local stores without difficulty.

I currently feed raw food but do keep several cans of Nature's Variety Instinct and Weruva on hand just in case. In the past I've also fed Innova EVO, Go Natural, ProPlan, and a brand that is no longer available. Soulistic is a cheaper version of Weruva and can be found at Petco stores.

Try toppers such as Fortiflora or bonito flakes. Sprinkle them over the wet food to entice him. You can also try to crushed the dry food that he will eat, and sprinkle that instead. Another method is to find one of those tuna in canned water (make sure it's not the salty kind), and pour a little bit of the tuna water onto the wet food.

Here's an article too for new ideas to try:
