Good morning!
 And Happy Friday!

When you're at home, do you like to have a silent house? Or do you like music? What kind? Do you prefer the television on to a specific show or to music? What kind of house do you have when you're home by yourself?

With me, it depends on what I'm doing. If I'm cleaning or baking, I need music and then I listen to classic rock on CDs. If I'm reading, I prefer it quiet. I never have the television on during the day.

It depends with me too, what I'm doing. Early in the AM when I'm reading I like it quiet. But when I'm cleaning or doing laundry I like to listen to the TV. Usually judge shows or news stations. The judge shows make me laugh and feel more 'normal'.

I need noise. A silent home is highly suspicious. In the morning, I usually have the birds chirping and Mo likes to wail in the mornings too.

Around 2pm, the birds nap, so I might get some ruffling sounds from them as they nod off, and the cats are asleep too. I almost always have a video playing in the background nowadays, but it used to be music. If I don't have music or a video playing, like right now, I can hear the birds running around on/under their newspaper and I can hear them picking and munching away at food.

Even when I'm in the shower in the mornings, I play a video to listen to, and I put on a video when I go to bed too (as long as I go to bed before the boyfriend).

When I lived with my parents, they and my brothers always had at least one TV on - and quite loud - and my mom listens to the radio whenever she's in the kitchen. I'm just more comfortable with some background noise. I guess that's why I don't mind all the airport and highway noise either!

I prefer noise when I am awake, need silence to sleep.  I always have the T.V on but I rarely fall asleep with it on, only if I am extremely tired.

my TV's usually on .. mainly to keep me company. Sometimes I just want it quiet if I am working on my fish tanks or doing bills

It depends on circumstances here too.

Most of the time, the TV is on but there is a lot of times that I shut it down and listen to ...nothing.  It's rare I'm home alone so when I am I kind of enjoy the peace and quiet even though we don't have an overly noisy environment in general (neighborhood very quiet).

I don't listen to music in the house when alone very much.  Not sure why.

I usually have music on in the background when I'm home alone. CDs or the TV turned to one of those Galaxy non-stop music channels. I like to listen to the CBC too, but that seems more interactive rather than just background noise - listening to serious talk shows.

Sometimes I love being alone with the TV station music. Other times I love watching Jerry Springer

It's almost always noisy to some degree here; so it feels a bit unnerving when it's totally quiet during the day.  I enjoy it for a few minutes and then I need something on in the background.  If I just want background noise I used to love turning QVC on. I blame my Grandma; she was a QVC addict and still likes watching it.
I think because it's people talking and interacting it's nicer than say putting the news on in the background.

If I'm baking or working on a puzzle or something like that I like lighthearted movies or TV shows.

I do prefer absolute silence so I can hear my heartbeats, but then again sometimes I get into mood where I want some music and loud one, usually heavy metal but sometimes Japanese anime/pop/robot music, faster the beat the better.

For me good music is certain combination of frequencies there must be quite fast beat and combination of silky smooth and barb wire roughness.

When you see numbers as colors and music as frequencies of wind flowing around you, there is slight chance that others live in different kind of world.

However most of the time I do like from silence, like if there would be no world outside, living in vast emptiness of space, there I feel I can finally relax.

It depends on my mood and what I'm doing.

If I'm doing housework, some times I have music on or not. I tend to play music more when I'm in a good mood.

Some times we have the t.v. on when were eating super, Bruce's idea, not mine.

If I'm reading a book I don't want music or the t.v. on, I find it too distracting. I even put in ear plugs in when I'm reading

if Bruce is watching t.v. downstairs as we have an open concept basement.
, which I would never buy again...!

Lately, most days I like it quiet, because I don't get too many of those.

I like music when I'm cleaning, usually something upbeat. I seem to clean better and faster with the beat of the music.

...with the cats...
it depends on what i'm doing and my preference that day.

if i'm cleaning, baking, or cooking, i listen to music -- streamed thru a roku onto my tv. i have an eclectic taste as far as music goes. my favorite music is big band/swing, just happy upbeat music that i can understand the words to and sing along with. but i also enjoy jazz, blues, some country, and oldies like bing crosby, perry como, bobby darrin, and lena horne. i enjoy rock music, but rarely listen to it. today i had pandora on on the tv, and was listening to patsy cline.

if i'm reading, i like it quiet so i can concentrate and really get into the book.

some days i watch tv, and other days (like the last two days) i don't watch any tv programs or movies.

since it's just me and the cats, it's whatever i feel like each day and every day is different.

Mostly I enjoy House Hunters or home show on.  Radio at times but sorta phased out of that last few years.

I don't listen to the radio at all. In fact I gave mine to my daughter. I have the TV on if there's something i want to watch otherwise i read. I don't have a TV in my bedroom so that I can read. I like the house quite quiet.

Do you have synesthesia? That's cool! I always thought it would be fun to see music the way it's described for people with synesthesia. Maybe sometimes annoying too ;).

I usually have the TV on for noise, but if I'm on the internet I don't need it, although sometimes it will be on anyway. I don't listen to music at home, unless I'm listening to a very specific song/set of songs. For some reason my brain hears music as just noise except under certain circumstances. I do put the radio on at work after the carriers go out on the routes because being alone in a big quiet office is a little weird. And sometimes I can listen to the radio in the car, but not always.

I'm not sure if synesthesia is part of the 'package' I have, but it might be similar effect on that subject. My disorder is however quite bit all around issue causing, most of the days I feel like living in a planet that is alien to me, like living in wrong planet, gift or curse to carry from birth to grave, depends from the day really.
