Nanook was a semi-feral cat that i have spent the last few months training.
He has been totally reformed and is now a loving smoochy cat.
But Nanook has one problem - he has become unbaringly vocal. So vocal that we really need help.
He meows constantly when we come home from work until we go to bed.
He has recently started going outside to explore but keeps coming back in meowing.
It's not food as he has that.
He stops meowing when he's on my lap being smoothed.
How can i get him to stop.....it's driving us mad!

He was sold as a birman but looks like a snowshoe
I'd say it's increased over the last two weeks. He was only at the vets last week with a sore eye and she checked him over then. That's now healed.
Just need to know how to get him to be a little quieter.

His hearing is good. No congestion or infection he seems really healthy.
He even meows at me if he's outside and he sees me at the window.

If it is a snowshoe, i read they are very vocal. Birmam not very vocal but will tell you their opinions when it comes to certain things. So if he really is a snowshoe as you believe, that just how he is and i don't know if you can do anything about so you going to have to deal with it. I would still make sure there not medically wrong with him

The vet gave him a really good check over when we were there. He's eating his food fine and is just as active as ever so I'm sure there is nothing medically wrong. He just seems to be very needy.

It could be a result of me giving him so much attention when we were making him less ferral and now he wants it constantly.

Or it could be that i talk back to him by meowing or talking.....i know mad cat woman meowing back.....why do we do that!!!!

I have been trying the walk away when he is constantly meowing and as soon as he stops giving him attention. It seems to be working a bit as he was a bit quieter yesterday. Plus not meowing back.

Don't think I've ever experienced such a chatty cat.

He was not chatty when we got him he was totally ferral. Then he started to come out of his shell And was still very quiet.
I guess now he's comfortable with us we are seeing the real him.
or perhaps he's been saving it all up and it's just burst out all at once.

Since he is still young, he does need lots of play time.  Do you have a laser pointer or a da bird wand toy?  Really get him moving.  Play with him until he is very tired and worn out.  Then reward him with a special treat or meal.

You can also try feliway plug ins or liquid composure calming supplement.  Yet I suspect he wants attention and needs more play time.  He is still young and cats love to play.

After you have given him lots of attention and he starts yowling, just walk away.  See what happens.

Glad he is neutered and has a clean bill of health.
