So I have this package of frozen edamame. I bought two bags of this stuff, not really knowing what is was. When I cooked the first ones, they were crunchy and the shells were awful. So I shelled them out and we ate them crunchy. I am wondering how they would be to shell them first and fry them slowly in the frying pan, like you would roast pecans. Any ideas anybody. Please. I am tired of watching them in my freezer. :lol3:

Most frozen edamame come pre-cooked. You can just steam or boil them (in pods) and lightly salt them. I like just popping them out and eating them like peanuts. I would say if you are going to put them into a dish, steam or boil them first so they can be easily popped out of the pods, and then they'll pretty much be ready to go in whatever dish you like just as any if it were other bean.

Before, I cooked them according to package directions. They were hard. I cooked them some more and they were still hard. I finished them as snacks, but I really didn't like them that way.

I poured just a bit of canola oil in an iron skillet. I slowly roasted the beans, browning them very slowly. I took them out and spread on a paper towel, sprinkled them with sea salt. Now they would be good as a snack, or in a salad. Yum.
