Cover for brand new leather couch?!

Hi everyone!

So I'm moving and just bought a beautiful new couch at Raymour & Flanigan and I'm thinking about covering it so my 2 cats don't accidentally carve it up or pee on it. They don't dig in like a scratching post but usually accidentally scratch it especially when they get spooked or chase each other. Is there anything anyone can suggest for me? I like the sure fit covers but the ones I want don't cover the front arms or sides of couch. It should def be water proof because 1 of my boys pees on couches....its behavioral from want the vet has said. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

What I use on my couch is first one of those waterproof crib pads, it's like flannel on each side and rubber in the middle.  Over that I throw an old cotton quilt (I love old quilts and have many of them).  I actually have a futon couch, it can be folded down to be a double bed, so the arms are natural cedar wood and not a problem, they are supposed to be rustic anyhow/ but you could use a couple of small crib sized quilts over the arms.  Also, be sure to keep your cats' nails trimmed weekly and that will help avoid accidental scratches.

I do trim their nails but not as often as I'd like. By the time I get around to trimming them, Its been a few weeks so yeah, I have to keep up now that I have a new apartment and new couch. By the way, my cats love scratching the underside of my wood dining room chairs and the wooden TV stand. Wood isn't safe in my household, lol!  

I'm just so happy I was able to find a place that accepted my cats! It was becoming dire but I somehow manage to find something to accommodate all of us!
