I've been trying to find plain pumpkin puree but all were in cans and as usual they arrive dented. I though why not buy baby food in glass jars or in pouches.

I found sweet potatoes (ingredients: sweet potatoes, water)

I couldn't find any pumpkins, at least in US based stores.

I found winter squash with water:

Also, butternut squash with water:

Help.

Any kind of winter squash, sweet potaoes should be acceptable. Can you buy fresh, cook down and puree? It's basically to introduce fiber to kitty's diet. You really don't use too much. Maybe cook, puree and freeze additional.

Weruva makes a pumpkin supplement for cats and dogs. It's called Pumpkin Patch Up. You can find it at non-chain and specialty pet stores.

Or you can buy a pumpkin or already cut pieces of pumpkin or squash from the supermarket and cook it (without spices or anything) and then puree it with some water.

This is probably a silly question, but what's wrong with a dented can? Well, unless you can't open it b/c its that badly dented? I buy cans of plain pumpkin puree during my weekly grocery trip. I've also purchased the Pumpkin Patch Up, but its so much more expensive than buying a can at the store & is absolutely no different.

I found this pumpkin puree on Amazon. It's in a carton rather than can, so perhaps that would help?

Thanks, Whole foods introduced new carton packages for pumpkin puree.

I contacted a safety food expert, and dented cans are not safe as air might gone inside and bacteria will form.
