One of my cats has a tail that looks normal, but when I run my hand along it, the tip of it feels bent. I noticed it when he was a kitten, shortly after I adopted him, almost two years ago. I asked the vet at the time and she said he either could have been born that way or got his tail shut in a kennel door or something--not much help. His tail has never seemed to bother him, but I have always been curious about it. Does anyone else have a cat with a bent tail?

By the way, he has also done a "shaky eye" thing since he was a kitten, which I figured out was nystagmus--also doesn't bother him.

The bent tail could just be a kink. No harm at all.
Shaky eye thing could be bad, could be something neurological.

He doesn't seem to have any neurological problems though, and the vet has never been overly concerned about it.

Yep, I do! My Rocky has the last half inch of his tail that is bent. Just that little tip. It's been like that since he was a kitten. I have had him since he was born, but I didn't notice it until he was about 3mo old. Since its all furry, you can't really tell with your eyes, but you can definitely feel it. It has absolutely no affect on him. He's a really crazy, nutty, bonkers cat, so we always joke that even his tail can't be straight!

My male Bengal cat has a stiff bend in the tip of his tail also.  He would be considered an Asian breed.  I was told that it is a genetic defect and that if we showed him, points would be deducted against him.  We don't show him, so no issue.  It's really cute when he holds his tail with both front paws and meticulously cleans the tip of his tail--like his over-cleaning it created the bend!
