Not a major issue however last month we added to our clowder a lovely boy which had been kept back initially by a breeder for stud, however she decided to release him at 8 months and he was neutered before he came to us. He is gorgeous however even with brushing and a couple of washes with standard cat shampoos it has not cleared.

Has anyone got a particularly good regime or product which removes the excess grease?

For those reading this thread aho may not be familiar with the poster's terms, a "clowder" is a group of cats and a "stud tail" is a greasy (and possibly infected) base of the tail for often unneutered but sometimes neutered cats.

Shampoos and sometimes antibiotics are needed.

Thank you for your response and clarity. On registering our new cat with the new vet it was established this was standard greasy stud tail however this was a month ago and we had hoped it would have cleared thus any suggestions for easily available products would be appreciated before returning to the vet for specific antibiotics. Thank you.

I'm not familiar with this condition but the links reference types of shampoos.  You could then try googling them.
