Well I haven't logged on here for a while but I am absolutely devastated. :( One of our cats has lots tons of weight and we've been backwards and forwards to the vet - they have tried various injections and his bloodwork didn't show anything other than a slightly raised white count, which they said meant an inflammation or slight infection.

I left him at the vet today so they could give him a sedative and look at his mouth/teeh as he seemed to be struggling to eat his food a bit, so we thought he might have a dodgy tooth or something.

The vet rang at lunchtime to say they had done an xray and they have found a mass which is probably a tumour/lymphoma and that there's nothing they can do.

I just don't even know what to think, or do, I can't believe that we are about to lose another of our babies to an untreatable cancer :(

I am so very sorry for your situation.  It must be devastating.  Did they discuss buying a little time with prednisilone?

We've to go to the surgery tonight and the vet will have a talk with us, so will get a better idea then. But basically on the phone he said there was nothing they could do - Talus has lost so much weight that he is like a walking skeleton.

I know we had prednisolone last year with Blade, it did seem to make some difference...... for a few weeks.

I really don't want him to have spent his last day at a vet surgery though, I want to at least bring him home for the weekend, if we have to make "that" decison.

My heart breaks for you! I'm in sort of the same situation but possibly we can have an amputation to rid Mikki of sarcoma in her lower leg. We lost Min 6 months ago to chylothorax and devastated is the right word for sure. How old is your kitty?

So so sorry to hear about your news. It tears your heart apart. Bring your kitty home as soon as you can. I did the exact same thing.

Hi all

Thanks for your kind posts.

Well, the vet has given us a 2 week supply of prednisolone and we've to see how he goes. He showed us some xrays which show irregular shadows in the intestines which he said is indicative of some sort of lymphoma.

So not good news but we will do whatever we can for as long as we can/as long as it seems right.

Talus is 10 - the same age as Blade, who we lost last year to cancer :(
