We have a female cat neutered on 8th march and on the morning of 11th she licked open her wounds and we had to rush her to the Vet to restitch. We had been giving her antibiotic (augmenton 125 mg syrup)  twice every day and cleaning the wound with antiseptic solution (pyodine) 5-6 times a day. There  had been oozing of pink transparent liquid from her wound from day one that didn't stop. It made the external skin soft and has led to opening of external sutures. We consulted the Vet for it but he didn't take any notice. Today, we took her to another local Vet who change the antibiotic and also her intake method from oral to injections. He has asked us to wait 2 day to see whether the antibiotics suit her and if her wound is healing. Our climate is really hot and wounds do not heal on their own without antibiotics. Her movement is restricted and she sleep all day. He says we have to wait now till the new skin grows from with in and the wound can not be stitched back now. I am worried if her internal sutures are opening too which are dissolving one by one. There is not smell in her wound or yellow oozing. She licks her self and eats properly.

Please share you experience with us for taking care of the cat and hope, if you or somebody you know had had a similar one where the cat wound reopened after spaying and she got okay.

Is she wearing an E-collar so she can't lick the incision?  They should be easy to obtain at the vet office.

The only suggestion that I have is the e-collar.    I do know from human wounds that the second vet is right about the external stitches.  Once there is an issue with a wound it needs to be left open and heal on it's own.  It takes longer but stitching would trap infection inside.  I hope your kitty heals up well even though it will take longer.
