Black Vultures occupying the site

Over the past week 2 black vultures have been seen daily at my colony site in the woods. Last year there were 2 turkey vultures that hung around

for close to a week. I am at a loss in what to do regarding these scavengers. I would assume that cutting back on the amount of dry food staged

would be a start. Also, considering putting the food under the feeding shelter with a large slant board to make access more difficult for the birds.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Last week the local homeless drunks vandalized the site. It becomes disheartening when all that you want to do is provide for these homeless

cats and encounter so much adversary. The stress endured by these innocent felines troubles me greatly.

Vultures/buzzards don't bother live animals. I doubt they eat the cat food either, unless they're starving. Crows will eat cat food but vultures prefer real meat, preferably rotten :tongue2:. But the perching habits of vultures are funny---they pick a site, use it daily for a few months, then move on to another site. So they should move on in a little while. Although if it's a good perching site, another group might move in. Basically, they're harmless and you can't do anything to make them leave. But hey, maybe they'll scare away vandals .

are there any dead animals around? while vultures rarely attack healthy animals, they may kill wounded or sick animals.  

not sure what you can do about the drunks unless you can fence in the area with a locked gate. 

Thanks or the suggestions.To my knowledge there are no wounded or dead animals nearby. They have been observed eating the cat food.

As for the drunks, they have no self respect.Why would they show any respect for the community cats and their territory
