Do-it-yourself Flea Medication

Commercial flea medication is expensive, particularly if you have multiple cats.

Why isn't it possible to make your own? I can't be that hard.

Hmm. . .because insecticides are usually controlled substances? I really have no idea where you could get the raw materials.

If you really need to save money, you can buy the largest dog size and split it for multiple cats. You can ONLY do this with Frontline, Advantage, and Revolution/Stronghold. Any other brand/formula will be too toxic for cats and may even be fatal. You can find dosage information if you Google for more info.

For the house/yard/bedding/etc., you can sprinkle diatomaceous earth around. You can find a big bag for a decent price from farm stores/sites. Make sure you get the food-grade kind and not the kind sold in pool stores.
