Handsome is a 8 month old indoor boy cat, that has been neutered and is up-to date with all of his shots. He lives in a clean friendly environment, with no other pets (probably unfortunate, however).  Last week we had to bring him back to the veterinary because we noticed his ears were losing it's fur and a rash seem to have developed. The doctor said Handsome ears was flea/ear mite free, and suggested possible he is super sensitive to the environment/food/or the litter we are using? She prescribed an ointment ( "Quadritop" ) to rub on his ears and it seem to have relieved some of his sensitivity issues but not completely. Any help for me would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Handsome

Quadritop is good stuff.  How long as he been on it?  It might need a week to clear up....

Thank you for your reply.

Handsome has been treated with Quadritop since last Friday evening, though his ears are not looking better but we think it's helping him because he seem much happier.

Sounds like an allergy to me. Is Handsome on a new brand or type of food/treat? Lots of food allergies make themselves known by giving the cat a bad rash on their ear(s). Just a thought!

A lot of cats exhibit allergies through their ears.  You may want to ask your vet about it.  My cat DeeJay is allergic to chicken in processed form among other things, we had an allergy/sensitivity test done on her and found out what she was allergic to.  She used to lose hair on her ears from scratching and would develop a rash on them.

That's good that it seems to be at least partly helping, but he may need more support.  Follow up with your vet ok :)
