My kitty might have a neurological problem

Hello, everyone...

I am from Greece and I am trying to find out what is happening to a kitty I rescued a few months back. The doctors here in my town are at a loss and I cannot find anything similar to what is happening to her, anywhere.

I was wondering if any of you have heard anything like this before.

I am using this post because I think autism is the closest thing.

The kitty has seizures, the doctor says epilepsy and I am treating it with gardenal and the seizures are a lot fewer now. But that is not the strange thing about her. When she does not have the seizures, she is not normal. She is now over 6 months old and she never plays and she hardly responds to anything you show her. Loud sounds barely make her look another way (not necessarily towards the sound). She doesn't like to be touched. She doesn't realise how to use her claws and for her, a step on the ladder is a wall. She doesn't realize that she can climb it. When you pick her up (risking a bite) she tilts her head backwards as far as it goes. She does know where to "go" so, she "goes" where she sits. The sandbox is there but she couldn't get in, even if she understood where to go. She eats constantly but only from the bowl. If the food goes outside the bowl she doesn't "see" it.

Well, there is more but, the text is already long so... :)

Has anyone seen or heard of anything similar?? I am overwhelmed by the situation and I would appreciate any suggestions.

Has this cat been like this since you rescued her or have these things started to happen / happen more over the past few months?

I agree with @IrinaSaK  that it sounds neurological and interested what if any tests your vet has done?   It could also be that she does not have sight which would explain some of the things you describe - it can be hard to tell if a cat has lost sight gradually and acclimatised to their environment.

I agree also with this but would add - has she been tested for deafness also? That can affect balance as well as loss of hearing.

I had a kitten who was brain damaged & could not see or smell but was active like a normal kitten.  Her sight would come & go.  There is differently something wrong with your little girl!  Did the vets do blood tests or anything besides looking her over.?  Wish I could help because I know how stressful & sad these situations can be.  Check out the links provided & I hope others here can be of more help.
