Ali has pemphigus and has been on prednisone for over 7 months.  She has never been in remission and when we wean her way down even to 2.5 megs it comes back when it does clear up.

Vet says long term prednisone use is dangerous and we are now trying liquid atomic and will be starting a hypoallergenic diet.

Our vet is selling us the meds for cost and we email her and send photos and updates and do not going the office unless we have too.

We have to watch our money and have already spent over $2000 with the vet.

We love our girl and will do what to takes but good Lord some of these vets run people dry financially.

Today is day two on atopica and she has had normal stools and a small amt of very soft stool, which I am watching.

Her beautiful black hair has turned gray and white in places from the prednisone use.

Our vet has talked about later treatment on he rose where the pemphigus hots and other things like that which I have declined because to me it is treating a symptom and not the cause.

The expense is more than we can afford and I do not believe the trauma that will be used to her is necessary.

She is eating an has gained weight, plays and still is alert.

Vet took Ali off of 15 megs of prednisone cold turkey bd putter on the atomic liquid the next day.  This is only day two of cold turkey off of the prednisone and I am grateful things are no worse than they are.

Ali has also lost a lot of hair especially around her top and bottom lips from the prednisone and developed cysts under her chin where she has a lot of hair loss.

Our vet is a good vet and we have been with her over 16 years with our other cat and then with Ali.

She did a biopsy and this is genetic.
