My cat Adrenia recently had 7 beautiful and healthy kittens. They are now 10 days old.
I noticed two of them though have an extra toe on both front paws. One of the polydactyls only has 4 toes instead of 5 on one of its back paws. What can cause this and should I be worried for it?
All the kittens are nursing, mewing, and have at least one eye open. I have experience with newborns and mama cats, but I've never seen anything like this before.
Btw, the one with 6 toes and 4 toes on the back is the one I'm keeping, its front paws look like little mittens and its adorable (:

Btw, so nobody freaks out. This was an accidental litter. I have good, reliable homes for them all and plan to get mama and babies fixed.

I dont thinks this little missing toe should be any practical problem for her.  It could perhaps if she was a free living hunter, but not as inside only cat. None at all.

Unless she has some more defects of course.  Which we cannot know, as we dont know exactly why some of them are polydactyles.   Is it a gene for polydactyly, and totally harmless, or is it an outer sign of some deformity?

Lets hope for the best, and proceed as usual.  Observe a little extra, but dont worry.

Just plan on spaying when they time is proper for it.

Good luck!

Ordinarily cats have five toes on their front feet, four toes on their back feet. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Yep, cats usually have 4 toes on the back feet. Do the other kittens have more than 4 on back? If so, post pics! It's rare to see extra toes on back feet.
