Upon arriving home today I saw a glossy string like object hanging from my cat's anus so we pulled it out. As we pulled every little thread was moving in opposite directions and it almost seemed like a collection of hundreds of very very skinny worms coming out at once. There was a little resistance when it was removed totaling in about a foot long but it was coming apart in sections as it was removed. I am having a very tough time finding a picture of exactly what I just saw and was wondering what type of worms it could be. They were moving very slowly as if they were dying. It emerged probably after a day of her not eating due to there being no food.

Edit -

She just turned 7 and has never had any problems before. We do have 2 other cats who are younger and and one has had runny poop since we got him. He's a year old.

She needs to get to the vet for a fecal as soon as possible, like first thing tomorrow.

For a fecal exam a small amount of feces (sh*t) is diluted with sterile water. A sample of this is spread on a slide and examined under a microscope to look for eggs from various parasite worms (round worms, tape worms, etc.) Different kinds of worms are treated with different medications - for example one takes care of round worms but not tape worms. So it is important to know what kind of worm  it is in order to treat it.

You can also bring in samples of the thread like worms in a small clean glass jar with a lid, or zip-close plastic bag..

A fecal  is a test where the vet does a test on the cats poop. Your cat is sick and needs to get this test in order for the vet to know how to treat it. I would not advise you pulling anything out of your cats anus in the future.

No food? How sad!

Can't you go to the dollar store even and get a box of dry?

Cat has worms and needs to be treated.

If it gets out of control it can cause major problems, getting in to lungs, etc and starving her of any nutrient stored in her body.

Well it sure sounds like maybe ALL of your cats might have worms!  What do you mean you don't have food so cats don't eat ?  Is this a regular part of their care from you?  Just not feeding a cat can cause some serious damage to a cats liver!  How old are you?  Are you able to pay for your cats care? You need to get that sample of kitty poop, from the 7 year old and the cat with runny poop and have the vet examine for what your cats have. This could be very serious!
