I am giving bell the freedom to make his own choice weather he wants to be in the house or out. And so far he had been in the house more than outside. I make sure he comes in at night. Today he chooses to be in. Also today my cat gwen came over to bell and was smelling him all over. Bell seems to be a insecure cat because he follows me like a dog would follow. It's so cute. My biggest goal is getting him to stay in when I go visit my daughter . I am just afraid that the two cats would fight. But they never fought yet and they sleep together. Judy did you install the cat door? Someone on another post told me that there is a cat door that only lets cats in by the Micro chip? Hope all is well. You to stewball.
Don't worry about them fighting if they don't when you're there. Yes I have a pet door but it doesn't come into my house. It just goes into the back vestibule between the garage and the back door. Pi used to come in through it and go into the garage for his food and to play with his toys, etc. I would set up his bed in the vestibule. But now I probably won't need that pet door unless he were to escape the house somehow. Need it or not it will remain as it is part of the storm and screen door.

We have a lovely morning here in Wedtchester County NY! Expecting temperatures as high as 60 degrees by this afternoon. What a dramatic change from what had been. You can see we still have snow but if the balmy weather continues as I hope it will, that snow will soon be gone making way for the flowers of spring.

Have let my boys out on the porch this morning and opened the door but kept the screen door closed. Pi was so delighted to smell the fresh air again and he started meowing to go out but after a few minutes seemed content to sit at the door and watch the birds at the feeder. Linda you had asked if this was a sun room. Actually it was originally an open porch. Then my mom and dad screened it in and finally about 30 years ago added the sliding glass panels. It is not heated but you can bring a space heater out there making it a 3 season porch. I did tell you earlier that I had inherited my family home I believe. Here are a few photos of the boys enjoying this spring-like weather:

Here is the porch in the summer season. I spend most of my time out there when I'm home. Happy loves it as much as I do and I think Pi will too.

You move all that furniture into that room in the summer? It's so smart.
You really do have a lovely house.

Hi Judy I just found the site. We can still keep in touch. It's a rainy day today and I think bell will be sleeping all day. I am having twomore cats visit tomorrow but they will be in cages and kepted in the bathroom. My daughter is having open house and she has to get the cats out of the house . My crazy life.

Glad you found it Linda. Pi and Happy have been doing a lot of sleeping today as well. Its rainy and foggy here as the snow melts. Goodbye to the snow. Hip, hip hooray!

Pi spent his first night upstairs in my bed last night and was a very good boy. Happy also sleeps on my bed in his own bed, near my pillow. However, last night Pi was up on the bed first and took Happy's bed. I was so surprised that Hap didn't make a fuss he just found a spot near my feet and went to sleep. Here's a photo of Pi in Happy's bed taken by me while I too was in bed. Notice how good his eye is now. All better!

Have fun with your house full of cats and one dog tomorrow! LOL!
he's beautiful and his beautiful eyes are all better. He actually slept in bed with you. How close to you is happy's bed? Did he stay all night? You certainly don't need him going out now. If he's sleeping with you on your bed he's a house cat and he's your cat. And happy's as well of course.
That's lovely.

That's lovely.
My bed is 2 twin beds pushed together. Happy's bed is right in front of the pillow on the bed opposite to me. So he was only about 2 feet from me when I took that photo. If that. Yes, I was shocked but he stayed in Happy's bed sleeping until about 6:30 this morning when he climbed out and onto my stomach where he lay for about 10 minutes. He did it so lightly I hardly noticed. Then he jumped down and went downstairs to his litter box. Next thing I knew he was back upstairs but this time went under my bed and slept until I got up around 7:30. Quite Amazing. Funny thing was as soon as Pi got out of Hap's bed Hap got into it and went to sleep. Poor Happy he's had a lot of change in his life recently and he's handling it so gracefully. I'm so proud of him.

That's lovely Judy. He actually slept on your tummy? That's more than my two do.
Good for happy.

Pipi is beautiful. Look at those eyes. So glad he is getting so use to being in the house. I guess you might be buying another bed for happy. You should put another litter box up stairs so he does not have to run up and down to go potty.
It was crazy today . My daughter 2 cats were in my bathroom but they were so scared that they never came out of the cages and I had the door closed. They were only hear 2 hours.
Bell has been so good. He had been in the house all day yesterday and today. I think he is going to chose to be inside. Can't wait till it gets warmer out.

Putting another litter box upstairs is probably a very good suggestion. This morning he woke up around 5:30, jumped down from the bed and went downstairs--I assumed to use his litter box. On the way back he stopped on the stair landing where I have a large vase of dried flowers that sits on the floor of the landing. I should say HAD a vase of dried flowers. I heard a funny crinkly kind of noise before he came up the stairs and couldn't figure out what it was until I went downstairs later. He had fun shredding most of the flowers which were in a big pile and also strewn all over the landing. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

I can't keep any dry flowers or any real flowers around. My gwen wants to eat them. Today I am going to get grass for cats sold in petch. It is good for there tummys and gwen has be throwing up. She must have hair balls.

Hooray for Bell! Pi was on the porch again today with the glass door open and only the screen door closed. He was loving smelling the fresh almost spring air.

you must be careful what flowers you have out in the house. Half are probably poisonous. Especially the lilly. Please don't keep flowers w here

where he can't get to them. That goes for plants with bulbs eg the beautiful daffodil. You can Google a list of every flower and plant that's poisonous for cats and dogs.

Here's something funny. Happy is 5 years old (last November.) I have had to make his food since I first adopted him at 8 mos old. Reason is all packaged or canned dog food gives him the runs. With my home cooking he does splendidly. However, he has always had a funny quirk about eating. He refuses to eat out of a bowl. I once bought a cat dish to see if he would eat out of a shallow "bowl". No luck but that's why I had a cat dish when Pi came into my yard. So I end up making little meat balls out of his food and lining them up on a mat then, after much coaxing he eats! I have always thought its because he doesn't want to get his beard messy. He's a Shih Tzu you may remember. People have told me, "just leave his food there and he'll eat when he's hungry." It will then sit there all day untouched until it gets hard and crusty. Enter Pi into our little family...now if I'm not very careful, Happy will run over to Pi's dish (the one originally bought for Happy) and quickly lap up all the wet cat food in it--especially the chicken! Groannnnnnnnn!!! He did it again tonight and I surely hope he doesn't have the runs tomorrow!

Thanks Stewball I will Google it. I do know a few. I usually don't have flowers around unless I'm entertaining. The ones he was messing with were dried Hydrangeas (about 3 years old) from my garden. I think they're OK especially that dry and old.

Sounds like pay back - Pi Pi did steal Happy's bed after all!
Oh I think you're right there Anne! He did it again today AND went after several of Pi's toys as well. Pi still adores him though. Its cute to watch.
