Hi Cat Lovers!

I'm owned by 9 loving furballs who were once feral. They all started out as hissy little things... But with lots of love and patience have become affectionate. Each one has their own unique purrsonality. I trap ferals, get them spayed/neutered, vaccinated and health-checked. Most of them are adopted into loving homes, but the ones I have chose me as their person. There's nothing more rewarding than nose-kisses from a cat that would've torn me to shreds six months ago! Cat rescue is what I live for.

I've had to take a temporary break from trapping new cats because I'm a full time caretaker for my mom since she was diagnosed with heart failure a couple of months ago. I'm taking this time to enjoy the special cats that I have and making the most of each day. Rescue work can mean long days, constantly busy, no days off, on call 24/7 and no one to fill in for me. Volunteer crews burn out but the cats' needs never end. I want to be careful not to reach the burnout stage...and caring for an elderly disabled human plus multiple cats (some with special needs) and my drive to save the cat world...could cause me to become too exhausted to give 110%. I want only the best for cats and mom who depend on my care.

The rescue was starting to grow...we grew out of our building in the city and bought ten acres in the mountains where we can run the rescue with no legal limits, however we maintain physical limits, as I've read about (and known some) who failed due to greater numbers than they can handle. The Calico Ranch is the new home for these rescued sweethearts...nestled in the pinyon forest several miles up a dirt road. The front side of the cabin has a spacious "catio", a safe outdoor lounge for cats. I'll add on to it as time allows. It's great therapy for me. I'm a construction crew of one, so I'm kinda slow at times. The daydream picture has a few small buildings (yurts maybe) to house captured ferals until they get the necessary vet treatment, taming and socializing. I have big plans for this project, all in time.

Cats have been a big part of my life and always will be. There are some who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge who have a piece of my heart forever. It is to them that I dedicate the rescue sanctuary and to the ones not yet rescued... "In Memory of the Unwanted"

Purrs'n'meows,
Jerricka =^..^=

Hello Norachan and friends,

Thank you for your reply and the link... I'll be sure to check it out! I'll post loads of pictures when I get on a "real computer", for now I'm using my phone and unfortunately have to watch the gb's or I get a whopping phone bill! In the near future, satellite Internet is coming, but I make trips to town often and will post photos from the library.

All the cats are settled in for the evening and I'm enjoying a little "me time" on the Cat Site!
