We're on Orijen two flavors alternating between them, he loves it a lot , but over night he stopped eating it. I cooked some meat and he ate it. I gave him Royal Canin and he ate a reasonable amount.

He just stopped eating Orijen for an unknown reason! It's the same pack so I can't say it's a newly opened pack.

What's up?

Picky cat got bored of the food? If he's fine in himself then that's all I can think of. One of my cats does this constantly - love it, hate it, love it, hate it - it drives me mad, but hes 13 now so I've not got much chance of changing him now! My greyhound does this all the time too...Thank god for an unfussy labrador to finish off all the rejects

Lol made me laugh.

We did tests everything was normal except something related to pancreas was a little bit over the average, but what gets me is he eat all the meat I cook for him.

No because I rotate every wet meal and give timed feedings, no dry (except for treats). I only feed foods they like in a constant rotation.

oh Canada~
Sometimes variety can entice them to eat again. I have a rotation of foods as well, different recipes and different brands. I mix both "premium" foods and cheap budget foods to save my sanity. One of my cats doesn't like to eat the same recipe two meals in a row, so I usually have two cans of food open for mixing in different quantities.

She used to hate turkey shreds. Now she loves them. This week, she decided she only wants to eat food once it's been heated. She used to LOVE the turkey and giblets pate, but wasn't feeling it tonight and would rather eat the beef pate (which she didn't like much yesterday or the day before, nor the days I offered it in the past month or so) once the water was lapped up by our other cat and she had room-temp food.

I used to just feed one kibble, but right now I have 3 different flavours going and mixed together so their day end treat has some variety. If I ate the same pasta every single day for every single meal, no matter how good the sauce is, at some point I would probably get sick of pasta and be grateful for a chicken cutlet.

There are quite a few other members who like to rotate foods. Perhaps your cat would benefit from being fed more than one flavour as well?

My cats used to be  like this with kibble , they will not even eat wet food .

Now I buy  three different formulas of Royal Canin kibble  ( different shapes & textures )  and rotate daily and they love it ..

i'm wondering if the orijen dry food formulas were changed, even a tiny change. sometimes that's all it takes for a cat to not like/eat a food any longer. it's that it's the newly opened bag of orijen dry food that your boy stopped eating/won't eat that has me wondering. and it's my understanding that the pet food companies are required to change the ingredient lists on their packaging within a certain amount of time, not as soon as they make a change(s).

Thanks everyone.

He did eat a tiny amount of Orijen chicken flavor, ate a bit more of Royal Canin. But still not his daily amount.

I cooked him some meat and he ate it. Gave him some leftover fish and he ate it!

It's just the kibbles he won't eat!

I havent read all the comments but i would recommend you mix them both and gradually add more and more of the one you want him to eat. like start with 25%, then 50%, then 75% and hopefully at 100% hes going to get used to it

hope this helps

Good info here. I thought I was going to have to take my finicky kitty to the vet.

My Houdini normally chows down on the wet food, but does not want to eat any of it but the salmon flavor lately. She still inhales her kibble though. And loves to eat grass and bugs out in the yard. lol

jack is eating various wet foods if its the canned friskies.mostly fish flavors. he want eat grain free. QUESTION OF THE DAY. Z jack is indoor only. how many times a day do you all feed wet food. he hardly eats kibbles. so wet is it. i give him 1/2. of 5 oz can am. about same mid day and same at nite. about 8 oz a day but hes 16 lbs how many times is adequate to feed wet food if not eating dry

I would cut it back a bit and smaller more frequent feedings
