The dog found our bunny about 6 months ago. He was a week old and in serious trouble. Fou is a fighter, and after a week he still panicked outside and flopped over but was gaining weight rapidly. I discovered the wildlife rescue organizations would use him as food and he now has a huge Palace in the living room and uses his litter box.

This bunny is a very social creature. my calico is usually obsessed with him, playing every morning for hours with him through the cage. he did not get very big, so he is safest away from my other pets. I think he thinks he's a cat!

So here is the issue: I left him to go out of town for the first time. Something happened while I was gone and they stopped playing. He is pretty sad and I'm trying to give him lots of attention. I am also encouraging the cats to play with him and it's getting better.

I'm wondering if anyone has ever had this kind of relationship between their cats and a rabbit before. I'm also looking for suggestions beyond a pet sitter if anyone has ideas. Thank you!

My young kids and wife want to get a medium size rabbit.  I have had rabbits, however I am worried that my 20lb. orange tabby will think it is food!  The cat chases down and kills, chipmunks, mice, snakes around our property.

That's a big cat shortlid, and an established hunter: I think you are correct.

If you have a sturdy cage, the bunny will be safe, but otherwise probably not.

One thing I have learned is that bunnies have very fragile spines which can be broken with the smallest of impacts.

My bunny hutch was very affordable, it is spacious for him, and also very sturdy.    Keep me posted and let me know if you want more info on the hutch.
