I got a kitten from a girl that said she was half bengal, but others said she's just tabby. Was wondering others opinions. She has a very soft meow, but isn't afraid to use it, really lovey, has a short tail.

Sometimes tabbies have spots when they are younger that turn into stripes when they get older. Since there is no papers to prove the linage, she would be listed as a grey tabby domestic short hair, and a very beautiful one at that!

Agree.  But as it is at this moment, she would be counted as spotted tabby, at least in Fife, the big european cat organisation. There are enough spots on the backside to count her as it.

But spots on the tummy doenst count, they are fairly common on both mackerel and classical tabby.

But please tell us some about the blue "grey" cat you do have?

If you could convince me he has green eyes, or at least greenish, you could put forward the case he is a pet qualtiy Russian Blue...

Yes, I see he seems to have some tabbyish markings on the body.  But nobody is saying he is a show quality RB.   :)

As it is, he is a lovely Maltese cat.    :)

You have a beautiful spotted tabby here by the look of your photographs.  She does seem to have a nice glossy sheen to her fur but I'm not sure it is enough to convince me there is Bengal in there. Her spots are great  no matter what though.
It will be interesting to see how her fur develops as she matures though as she is still very small and the fur changes a lot over the first year with many cats.

I agree with Stefan, you have a striking blue cat there.  I didn't even know when I came to look at your thread, I just got interested in the titlle.
Then saw your blue one photo bombing on the kitten shots.
Your blue youngster appears to have a very nice, llean muscular body and long limbs, and nice short, dense fur.  Banding in a cat of 8 months is not unusual however his tail is quite thick for a Russian Blue and you would look for defnite green eyes of some shade.   Without any papers Stefan is right - a lovely Maltese cat.
There's a photo thread for blue cats if you'd like to post pictures there - more cats  the merrier!  (The link is in the signature at the bottom of my posts).

Thanks everyone. Here's a better picture of his eyes I'd say they are more yellow than green, the were blue when I first got him. And he was definitely photo bombing lol.

He is really handsome  @sharilyn27  .  I hope he's prepared to be over shaddowed and life taken over by your young tabby though.

Is his blue fur very dense and even in length, like plush velvet?  It looks like it is, certainly around his face and neck areas.

Yes, his fur is pretty much the same all over him. He feels velvety.

Nice.
One sleek, shiney spotty cat and one velvety blue one, what a great fur family.  Do they get on well together?

Yes we've only actually had the little spotty girl "lily" for 3 weeks and I was surprised at just how quickly they became besties. I thought "Cinder" was gonna be very unhappy. He was a good boy, and she was the little meanie. Lol but I have 3 dogs she had to get to know too. She's still a bit iffy with the dogs but it went so well, I'm proud of my fur kids.

They are both very beautiful cats!

In "Cinder" I can definitely see SOME russian blue. Not purebred, but it seems to be mixed in there somewhere.

Russian Blues often have striped tails, and I recognize the face shape. The texture of the fur as well.

Hello all! I was told the other day that my sweet boy Phoenix looks like he has Bengal in him. I have read a bit about them since and he does display characteristics but I'm not a cat expert. I don't care about what he is on paper (orange tabby), it just simply got me curious. He was a rescue kitten with no information on his parents. I am curious if Bengal could be present, or anything else that he could have in him in general. You all seem smart so I figured I would ask what you thought of my baby!

Possibly some Bengal mixed in but he does appear to be a DSH spotted tabby, sometimes when they are spotted they have more of an exotic look and resemble Savannah or Bengal cats, your kitten is a beauty! I personally think spotted tabbies have the most beautiful coats! But that may be because My kitty is spotted as well :)

He is a classic tabby, and very nice at that.  That is why he looks a little unusual.

I myself dont think he is part bengal, but possibly part something else, being longish and having big ears.

This is difficult to see on kittens, it will be easier to see when he is adult, if his ears are still big and his is still longish.

If so, he could be part  siamese or oriental  (they are two sibling breeds, but siamese is the much more common).

A siamese mixed out will lose his point, because point gene is recessive..

And tabby gene is dominant, so its enough of one tabby parent for the kittens to be themselves tabby too...

Sweet boy as said.

Good luck!

Im not sure he counts as spotted.  I think he is a broken mackerel tabby.

Some spots on the tummy are quite common on tabbies, and they dont count for the spotted label.
