We said good bye to our dear Flaco today.  He was just shy of 17.  He came tumbling through our front door in St. Augustine, Trinidad those many years ago, skinny, flea infested, broken tail and burned whiskers.  I thought I would comfort him a few days and then have to put him down.  Less than a week later, with a little help from cod liver oil, he was fine.  He was by far the sweetest cat I have ever known.  So loving and affectionate.  All he ever wanted was to be with us or, if not us, other cats.  He was a kind and gentle soul and I miss him terribly.  We knew it was time, however, he had been going down hill for awhile and we decided to make the decision now before he became completely confused and in pain.  Oh I will miss him so!  But I do not regret helping him to his next adventure.  I hope I see him when I begin mine.

I love the picture that you posted. He was obviously very much loved.

I lost my baby recently and I know it is so hard to cope with the loss. It will be strange coming into the house and him not being there, the whole dynamics change. Something will be always missing.

I am so sorry for your loss and I hope that soon you will remember the good times only...

Your picture is absolutely adorable!  It reflects your sweet boys gentle personality perfectly. I know the pain of losing such a treasured companion, the world will mourn with you and be a little emptier for his passing. You will surely be blessed for giving this sweet boy a home he so desperately needed, he enriched your life in return for your kindness. Thank you for letting us know of his life and how much he brought to this earth, we will all think of him in this moment of time and say a little prayer for his safe journey to the Rainbow Bridge where he will comfort you from afar and be waiting to meet you once again. Take care....... RIP beautiful Flaco, you were greatly loved!

"...his next adventure" is such a great way of expressing it. I'm very sorry about the loss of your longtime companion. RIP, Flaco. :rbheart:

Thanks All.  He lived an amazing life and like Dalimllli says, we have so many good memories of him.  He would sleep on our heads, insist on sitting on my lap even when I was on the toilet, jump into the bathtub after my shower for a drink.  When we brought out little Asha in from outside, it was Flaco who helped her to become social.  She loved him so much.  I am so glad we have her as a wonderful reminder of his kindness. He really did love other cats.
Here he is with Miss Asha Bhosle.

I am so sorry for your loss.  They can never be replaced & their leaving is so final.  I am sure you will see Flaco on the other side & he may be watching over you right now.  I am envious that you had him for 17 years; my baby left at 13.  At some point we will be able to enjoy all the love they shared with us in our memories.

What a gorgeous fluffy boy!  I love the picture of Flaco relaxing on the sofa, so adorable.  I am very sorry for your loss.
