Your kitty is beautiful, she reminds me of my Tabatha who is at the bridge.  You have given her an extra year of love and attention.  I have a 15 year old who is going through CRF, she's only at stage 2 but she has her ups and downs and I've had to give her appetite stimulants here and there.  She is not one that I will be able to syringe feed so when that time comes I will have to make that hard decision.  I am so sorry you are having to go through this.  Enjoy your beautiful little girl with the time you have left and let her peacefully cross over when that time comes.

Thanks SO much to everyone who offered thoughts, suggestions and just plain support. This forum & the wonderful people on it has saved my "cat-oriented mental health" more times than I can count!

The amazing news-we were truly prepared on Friday to have our vet come Monday or Tuesday since we feel fairly sure she had a small stroke Thursday night (some shaking/trembling, no eating for over 24 hours, and her eyes just looked lifeless)...and then shock of shocks-Phoebe has done an almost 180 degree turn!!! She suddenly started eating like nothing ever happened (I did give her appetite stimulant pills end of last week but even stopped that Sat night she's eating so well!).she's down to 5 lbs, so it's not much but I'll take it :) !!!!! And she's even back to meowing & putting when my husband or I enter the room, and she's even back to getting off her heating pad every now & then & curling up next to me during the night. So guess I need to cancel the vet coming to the house--she doesn't want to be counted out yet! I realize it could flip back at any minute, given her age & kidney state, but I'll take this who-knows-how-long return of "Happy Phoebe"!

Such good news!  This is one of the best testimonials as to why vets should not tell anyone that they should euthanize that same day!  I wish more good days for Phoebe and for you

She really is amazing - and thanks to everyone who's offered words of encouragement, both for me and for Phoebe :)

I know I've mentioned this before, but it still cracks me up that Dr. Martin calls her his "Ever Ready Kitty" in that "she takes a licking and keeps on ticking….like someone forgot to tell her that her kidneys are gone." We always end every vet visit looking at her, shaking our heads, and saying virtually in unison "It's like she forgot she was supposed to be gone by now."

So glad SHE never got the memo :)

She's just reminding you that she has plenty of lives left and is going to use every last one no matter how long it takes.
