hi i switched Jack to a simply nourish product 2 days ago. loves the wet. as he had about 2 months ago suffered with upset stomach and gastritis vet suspected. since purina had made changes to food manufactured by china and all the sick animal lawsuits i felt I did not want to take any chances. i give him SN wet food and some blue spa. blue spa wet he is use to. SN is real meat no gluten or grains etc he does not eat much dry food. so i just took the purina up and hand fed him some to start. this morning he had loose stools. will he get use to it or should i add purina back. it scares me to give him purina even to break him into new food. the dry is rabbit and chicken. grain free. he is only probably eating 3 or 4 oz of wet food a day. and maybe less than a handful of dry. but since he was hardly eating anything till now I guess its better. now he will eat a whole can of tuna if i were willing to give it to him but just read all the dangers of canned tuna. should i just leave everything SN. or put dry purina back in his diet or will his stools go bak to normal. not worried so much about wet mostly water anyway but i do pick out any tomato pieces i see. any advice is appreciated. dont wnt stomach issues again.ps he is an indoor ragdoll cat. does not eat but about 3-4 oz of wet ea day. he pees one time a day or ywice. is he getting enough food I worry but cant force him. vet says appars very healthy. akso when he wa sick he ate nothing. hes eating at least

It's never good to do a 100% switchover like that, particularly with dry food. A gradual transition is best, slowly adding the new food into the old and gradually increasing the amount of the new until it is 100% new food in the bowl.

I made the same mistake with my first cat and didn't realize the awful diarrhea was from changing her food. I ended up bringing her to the emergency vet and found out she was quite dehydrated. After an overnight stay, lots of fluid given and with my wallet $400 lighter I learned my lesson. :)

That's probably a good idea. I also add a little plain canned pumpkin into my cats' food (about a teaspoon) when they seem to be having any tummy problems. It's a good source of fiber and they like it. Just make sure that it's just plain pumpkin- not pie filling. You can find it in most grocery stores in the baking aisle near the canned pie fillings. Just read the ingredients. They should show pumpkin and nothing else. I buy Libby's but any brand you find should work. it's good for diarrhea and constipation as well. Good luck. I hope he feels better.

The wet food doesn't matter. I never feed my cats the same canned food two meals in a row. They are very fussy and don't like that. They are all doing well as far as eliminations are concerned. They are all on a wet only diet.
