Hello I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on my thoughts.
I have 2 cats. One which is a year old called Hope and is still a kitten and my other cat called maisy who is 6 years old and is very devoted.
Last year when I brought my kitten into the new home, maisy hated her, hissing and growling and basically didn't want to know. If Hope got to close then she will get a clip from maisy.
But now the tables have turned. They are both outdoor cats and I would like to think they have got used to each other. But maisy now is coming back now with a lot of wounds on her. Few weeks ago she had one from her neck which has healed. She's had scratches on her nose, and now on the side of her face is very bloody and looks like puncture wounds. She's very nervy and takes a whole to come in. I've found her sleeping on the floor and the kitten on the bed. Food isn't a problem as she still enjoys and eats it. But this morning I woke up to what I thought was a baby talking but it was maisy outside and it was her. I found hope near the scene aswell but she was with another cat! Are they ganging up on maisy or was she sticking up for her? What can I do for maisy? She's been spayed but hope hasn't yet. I don't want maisy suffering but need advice. Help xxx

First I would spay Hope as soon as possible, or she will become pregnant soon.
Other cats (not Hope) could be beating up on Maisy. Any way you can keep them indoors for a while, at least until the wounds have healed.
I would take Maisy to the vet; cat bites are full of germs and wounds can easily become infected.

Well, the first problem could be that Hope is possibly in HEAT!  No one wants to be in that love triangle! You need to have Hope spayed ASAP! Or you may soon have several more cats in the form of KITTENS! Cats are very territorial, and  take a while to accept another cat, ( Hope coming into Maizy territory) But I think you have a love triangle going on with Helen and her suitors now coming into the yard, and the male cats can be violent in their pursuit of a female. Get Hope fixed!

Hope is probably pregnant already :/. This time of year is when just about every unspayed cat gets pregnant. It's probably her tomcat suitors who are beating up on Maisy. I'd get them both to the vet, to discuss the options for Hope (if you're comfortable with a spay/abort, if she needs prenatal care, etc.) and to have Maisy's wounds looked at. Try to keep them both inside at least until mating season is over--- and of course, after Hope is spayed.

I think your all right. I'm gonna get hope to the vets this week. Just had to bribe hope in with food. We caught her rolling on her back on the garage Roof and saw a cat on the fence and it disappeared. We managed to get her in. But she's licking her bits ATM x

Should I keep hope in till I get paid on Thursday or will it not make a difference?

OH it could make a difference! But be prepared for wild kitty girl who will SOOO want to get back outside for male kitty attention! She may get REAL CRAZY, BUT YOU HAVE TO KEEP HER INSIDE!  Female cats will mate with several cats during heat. Hopefully she isn't pregnant yet!  See if the vet would let you post date a check? Otherwise, don't count on too much sleep until Thursday night!  She's already is doing the rolling thing, and that is a big sign that she is ready for LOVE!

I only said Thursday because that's when I get paid and I could get her to the vets on that day for the operation. and I thought by keeping hope in, it would stop the males from roaming around and attacking maisy. Is this true or would the males still be hanging around? Am I doing the right thing by keeping hope in or am I being cruel? I would welcome kittens but I'm pregnant to xx

The males will still hang around, unfortunately. They can smell the female even when she's inside.

Be sure to call ahead for an appointment at the vet. They don't usually do spays on a walk-in basis. Thursday is soon enough but don't put it off any longer than that!

It would be best to keep both Hope AND Maisy inside until Hope is spayed. Males can smell a female in heat from miles away, regardless if the female is inside or out. Keeping both girls inside would protect them from these would be suitors.

Keeping them in during this time is NOT cruel. You are protecting Hope from the pain that females experience during mating and from possibly contracting FIV or Leukemia. You are also protecting both girls from fight wounds which can get infected or abscess.

Hope got vaccinated against these diseases I think. But I kinda feel bad keeping maisy in because I feel like I'm punishing her

It seems that Maisy is taking the brunt of the attacks from visitors, so you are not punishing her, you are protecting her. She can return to her normal routine once Hope is spayed.

Hope is definatly on heat. She was crying all last night to go out! So today I have put a litter tray out for her to stay in.

She's still crying now. She's had her breakfast and been to the toilet. I know I'm doing the right thing for her even though it might be too late. But I don't want 2 pregnancies in the household lol

Excellent! I hope the tomcats move along soon! They might stick around for a little while as the smell doesn't fade right away but hopefully they'll move on to another house with an unspayed cat and leave poor Maisy alone :D.
