My understanding is that Thailand is ok for food sources, where as China, can be questionable. I feed my cat Weruva and she loves it too. I'm confident with the brand so I keep feeding it :)

Maybe someone else can chime in too.

Weruva brands (including BFF, Cats in the Kitchen and Soulistic), Tiki Cat and Fussie Cat are all made in Thailand. It wouldn't surprise me if they are made in the same plant, but I have not confirmed this. There's a fair amount of food processing in Thailand that meets high worldwide standards so Tiki and Fussie could well be made in a different plant.

The main thing to be worried about I gather is possibly labor conditions or something. Plus there's the carbon footprint of shipping from halfway around the world. The fishing may not be sustainable either, not sure. Valid concerns all but not things that directly affect the food safety.

My understanding: The plant where Weruva is made also makes human food, and the same family (US-based) or different parts of the same family control the human food operation and Weruva. Because it makes human food for US consumption the plant has to meet USDA standards and such. (If I remember right they also meet some Euro human food standards which might be even better than US.) Because Weruva has common family/ownership with the plant it is not really as if they are contract manufacturing the way some other brands do. Indeed it seems far more transparent than some other contract manufacturing arrangements or even some big corporate plants where the food is still made in the US.

It's not wrong to be concerned, and certainly you should question and investigate for yourself, but my personal conclusion has been that it's ok.

Just to add to @2bcat's comments...

Here's what Weruva says about its facilities in Thailand, which also produce food for Subway: link here. We feed our cats some of Weruva's Cats in the Kitchen foods, as well as foods from Tiki, which also produces food in Thailand.
