Let me say a huge HELLO to everyone first! Heck of an emotional month for me. I lost my 12 yr old Kitty companion, and it devastated me. His name was Zodiac (Zoe for short), he was adopted in Washington State, and he was as close to perfect than one can be. We did adopt/rescue a nuetered 2 yr old made. All shots, rabies, chip, and he was negative for FIV and FLV. Tonight we notice him limping and favoring his front left paw. I swaddled him and checked his leg, to find he had one toe (nailbed) that was swollen. When I applied pressure a whitish to yellow bit of puss came out. I cleaned it out and then applied some hydrogen peroxide to the area. I'll be calling the Vet on Monday. Is there more I can do to bring the swelling down and relieve some pressure/pain? He's not yet tolerant of water. He is eating and drinking and using the litter box, just gingerly walking. He's a big boy and used to climb all over.
