I cleaned my cats boxes a few days before i started deworming them. i gave the first deworming dose two weeks ago, today is the last one. Should i throw out all the used litter? Will i have to throw it out again in a week? Just asking as i dont have much money and cant really be throwing out an entire box of litter every week, you know? lol

----

More info, but my basic question is just whether i should toss the litter. thanks! =)

I checked my cat Elsa for worms and she tested positive with hookworms, i was adviced to give revolution to treat it. I went to another vet that said that revolution does work, but slowly and she advised deworming. Even though she did a test and didnt see worms, we just wanted to be safe. My other cat doesnt have worms, but they do share boxes, so im deworming her too.

The larvae of hookworms can live several weeks in cool, moist soil, but die rapidly in freezing or hot, dry conditions. Yards and litter boxes should be cleaned daily.

Any feces in yards should be picked up on a daily basis. Flaming the surface soil can kill the larvae.

I've never seen a recommendation to change out litter.

I have an automatic litter box, so the litter is cleaned within five minutes of them using it. I have a litter robot. I am just wondering if i should toss all the litter in their boxes. lol I am just wondering when i should clean it out, if i should do it often. Its just that its a lot of litter to throw out.

Thanks for the help! =)
