Hi guys!
My little girl, Joy went into heat the first time at the end of January. It only lasted for 2 days and it didn't happen again since then, so I got myself wondering what happened.
I have a neutered boy (Tyler) at home as well and during Joy's heat period I found them enjoying a little but of cat love, but obviously that couldn't get her pregnant. She is an indoor cat and she has not left the house so being knocked up by another cat is also not an option.
At the same time her behaviour changed a lot... she is very cuddly, patient and she sleeps with me every night (which she only used to do when she was a little kitten). She is also very talkative and she eats a lot (although she did do that too before). They also seem to be closer with Tyler since then, they often sleep together cuddling during the day which they literally never did before.
I also feel her belly a little bigger and her nipples look like they are pinking, but I could just imagine these.
Is it possible that she somehow got really pregnant or is it fake pregnancy? Also if it is a fake one, how long will it last and what exactly should I expect?
Since I am a little confused here, I would appreciate any help/suggestion I can get!! :)

When exactly got Tyler neutered?  They are still fertile at least one week more, but may be even several weeks after.

The teats pink up usually about day 21, plus minus one day...   If she got rosy  later on, its another sign of probably  false pregnancy.

Its not that unusual breeders use a late spayed tom to help their girls.  The price is, they sometimes get into false pregnancy...  Its usually shorter than teh real pregnancy, but may go into 50 days too.

Good luck!

Hi StefanZ,

thank you for your answer!

Tyler was neutered almost a year ago already, so for sure he is not able to get any girl pregnant any more :)

Sadly I have not paid attention to the nipples before, Her belly is very fury, so even though there is no hair directly around the nipples, the fur covers it, so I only noticed that they might look pink when I started looking yesterday.

Also is it possible that she doesn't go into heat if she is not pregnant (or false pregnant) or is it a definite sign?

Is there anyway to know if I should prepare myself for kittens or not without an ultrasound? :) Off course if she is pregnant then I would like to bring her to the vet to get everything checked out and receive some suggestions before hands, but I don't find it necessary to go there with a false pregnancy :)

Thank you again for any help!! :)

This with heats is no fire sure sign. They are supposed to NOT go in heat while pregnant.  But the fact is, they can.  So for example, there happens now and then they do have two different litters simultaneously, several weeks apart.   And with a little luck, they may even deliver both litters each in their proper time, everyone healthy.

And not going in heat... May happen.  To know with any safety, you must know how often she goes into heat, and if the heat manifests, or if it is usually a silent heat...   And thus, if a manifest heater every two-three weeks, regularly, ceases to be in heat - this is an indicium...

If you arent very used to palpitate, the only sure way to know is a vet who is good at palpitating, and or has  ultrasound.  We dont encourage X-rays if not necessary.  It usually costs, is in some degree dangerous, and isnt reliable before about day 45, ie when the skeleton becomes clearly visible.

Sorry I dont have any real sure answers.
