My apologies for any typos, been researching on my phone for a while!

Ira is a 7 and a half year old DSH. Pretty healthy his whole life. Had a few very short bouts of anorexia that he overcame by hand feeding.

This January Ira had a urinary blockage. He "told" us immediately and within 4 days he returned home with a new lease on life and a new diet. 90 percent urinary so wet, little bit of dry.

Monday we found ourselves back at the vet because he was just himself. He's lost 30 percent of his body weight, and his bilirubin levels are elevated. Vet is unsure of whether it's gallbladder disease, cancer, ibd, fatty liver and a handful of other things.

We've had him home since Monday night, I began forcefeeeing a/d Tuesday. He will eat nothing on his own. He has a mittfull of meds. He has had two or three very watery, yellowy poops.

I think I'm driving myself crazy over analyzing his every move and symptom, but after spending a bunch of money, I still don't really have any solid answers.

Anyone have a cat who has had any of those illnesses that I could pick their brain on symptoms, recovery, diagnosing etc?

His brother passed a couple years ago with somewhat similar circumstances and points that make this very scary. :-(

Thanks in advance.

Sorry to hear that your cat isn't feeling well. I suggest taking your cat to another vet for a second opinion. Try a board certified internal medicine vet: http://www.acvim.org/AnimalOwners/FindaSpecialist.aspx. Bring copies of your cat's medical records with you.

'm not sure what your cat's illness may be. Keep force feeding the A/D, making as soupy if neeed for syringe feeding. The last thing you want to deal with is fatty liver disese from lack of calorie intake.  As a lst resort the vet can put in a feeding tube. The vet can prescribe an appetite stimulant if you feelt hat one would help your cat.

It sounds to me that there are some genetics involved here, mentioning his brother passing from similar symptoms.

The mention of a few short bouts of anorexia.........that's not normal at all. What caused this?
