Maybe it's just me but I don't find Pure Bites and similar to be crunchy.  The consistency is kinda like styrofoam. ;-)  Plus my two don't seem to care for those.

That said, even if the treats are crunchy, it's possible the cat won't crunch those anyway.  Put a few bits of a small kibble like Orijen down, and mine are more likely to swallow those whole I think.  I never really considered the size of the treat, so I might look at that going forward.  Most of them are small.  And yet the chewy vs crunchy still seems to matter with those small ones even though they aren't likely to chew them.  Cats....
my cat eats my dogs orijen regional red kibble for a treat. She chews it.

If your cat only wants crunchy, Halo Healthsome chicken treats and Wellness Kittles are crunchy treats with decent ingredients. The Kittles (even the chicken) do contain some fish though. The Halo treats have taurine added to them, so that could be a good thing. The Halo ones also contain catnip, so maybe that will get your cat's attention. I get mauled when I open the bag.

I feed Pure Bites and Orijen treats as well, but they are not crunchy. The cats devour them though, so they must be tasty.

On the not so crunchy but smelly side, there's freeze-dried liver.
Oooh!  That sounds perfect!  What brand do you recommend, and where can you get it?

Huh.  Well, maybe he'd like a styrofoam consistency.  Ya never know with cats. :-)

I think I'll give it a try.  If nothing else, it will give him a new opportunity to turn his nose up at something. ;-)

Now that Buddy is finally starting to get the hang of non-pate food, he really seems to really enjoy having something to actually chew.  So hopefully that's a good sign, and a step in the right direction re: getting him off kibble/Temptations as much as possible.

Thanks!

Dumb question.

Does she prefer the dog version to the one for cats?  Or is that all she's tried? :-)

If they're tasty and smelly enough for him, maybe he might prefer chewy to crunchy.  Stranger things have happened.

Thanks bunches!

The kibble ingredients seem the same, the dog bits are bigger. They never had the cat version yet, because I bought the dog kibble in error on lline. I fed it to the dogs and the cats liked it. I looked up ingredients and they seemed almost identical. I use as treats only for dogs and cats. If I fed it as a meal, I would get them cat version.

Ah.  Okay, thanks!

I used to have a cat who'd sneak food out of the dog's bowl.  But I never could figure out if it was because she liked the taste, size, etc., or because she just seemed to enjoy messing with the dog's head. ;-)

I bought Stewart's. It's available at Petsmart. I'm not sure if they have any in the cat aisle, but they have it in the dog aisle. It doesn't matter, it's only one ingredient. Stewart's is freeze-dried raw.

The cause of FLUTD in my cat was greenies the treat. So many meds and dr prescribed zenequin. Stopped greenies and he is better!!
