My friends have a one year old kitty who was just diagnosed with hip dysplasia. Poor baby had broken his hip! What is the treatment for this? I was really shocked since he is so young.

I know my friends got the cat from the humane society. Is this something they could have seen when he was a kitten?

Thanks for any info!

Poor baby! The only experience that I have with hip dysplasia is in dogs. You don't see it when they are young, and depending on how bad it is, the only option is surgery. I had it happen to a one year old stray that we fostered thru it's surgeries, and it gradually appeared in an old dog of mine. The older dog didn't have it too bad, had all other types of health problems anyway (he was an almost-dead dumpster dog when we found him), and we didn't have surgery on him - just kept his pain levels down.
