I've mentioned on the Name Three Things thread that one of the clasps on my JS bag broke. There is a lifetime warranty on the bag (even though I bought it back in 1993) and they will honor that warranty. I am to ship the bag to them, they will replace the clasp (probably both clasps so they match) and ship it back to me. Free of charge. I offered to pay for the repairs because the bag is 22 years old, but he said no, they honor their warranty. If they can't fix it--and he knows they can as they have a lot of older stuff laying around--they will replace it with a bag as similar to my bag as they can. I have a large bag, almost like an attache case. They'd have to replace it with some kind of messenger bag, he thought. But he feels sure it can be fixed. He asked me what I wanted as a replacement and I said, "Nothing. I'd really like my old bag fixed!" He laughed and said they'd do the best they could.

That's pretty cool. Like I said, I bought it in 1993 and it's been through my college textbooks and all my planning stuff for work. I take it with me on vacation and it's always packed with stuff. Most women carry a purse. I carry a Jansport. It's a wonderful (if very old) bag.

Now if I can figure out how to go about without my bag for the next 3 weeks or so, life will be good.

I'm pretty sure I have a jansport bag or 2 in my closet.  They were the thing to have for a while there.  My Aunt bought both of them.  Looking back; it was sure nice to have an Aunt that got me trendy things like that.

(I'm a little sad to realize how old those are though!

Very cool that they do that!

I know LL Bean had a similar guarantee at one time, I don't know if they still do.

It is nice that they have that kind of warranty. So many things are considered to be disposable these days. And it seems that today's things are not as well-made as they used to be. I like the idea that I don't have to buy a new bag and can keep using my old one for a while yet.

I'm going to throw it in the washer and dryer tonight, then pack it up and mail it out first thing Saturday morning.

This is the one I used in college. Its in great shape!

The back is a bit padded so its comfortable against your body.

I cant find my purple backpack style one. I hope DH didnt purge it. He doesn't like holding onto things and a few times now he had worn me down & I've agreed to get rid of things I've regretted later. :/

Nice bag, Mooch!

Here's mine; I had taken pictures of it, in case I needed to email them to Jansport.

Front. You can't even see the Jansport logo anymore as it's pretty much completely worn off at this point. It's the clasp right below the logo that's broken. That zipper unzips for a small compartment for small tablets, papers, etc.

It has both a hand-held and a nice, padded strap for lugging on my shoulder. I always have it on my shoulder.

Inside. I carry a ton of stuff. My cell phone is usually in that empty pocket. See the wired book there in the back? That's actually in another zippered compartment that might hold a small laptop. Along that side is a clasp to hold my car keys. I don't use it.

Side. That zipper unzips the entire bottom of the bag for more space for books, plans, ordinances, whatever I might need for a meeting.

And the back of the bag. I have my wallet, some extra pens and markers, my sunglasses case, iPod, etc stored in there.

(And if you look really closely, you might even find a cat hair or two.)

It's no wonder I have back problems. When that puppy is full? It's one heavy bag! Doesn't look bad at all, though, for being about 22 years old.

That is a lot of stuff!!!

I don't think mine can hold quite that much.  It always held enough though.  And the compartments were very useful.  I always had extra stuff with me with my major.  But the basics all got in there.  I know my case for drafting supplies fit too.

My bag came home today! They put on two new clasps and then restitched around them. Looks perfect. I already took everything out of my purse and threw it all into my Jansport. Got all my other stuff together, all the stuff that I wasn't carrying because I had no room, and got it all arranged.

And all is right in my little world.

ETA: The proper term for my bag is a Legal Brief. For the life of me I couldn't remember what it was called.
