I ordered two boxes of canned Meow Mix cat food from Amazon on 2-19-15.   The order was shipped on 2-20-15.   This morning 3-4-15  I discovered the delivery sitting on my deck--not at the front door where deliveries are usually made.   Evidently I had a different driver--the usual driver always sets deliveries in the house since he knows I have mobility issues.  So--the box has been sitting outside in sub freezing temperatures for a week.  Is the canned cat food still safe for my cat to eat or should it be discarded?

Thank you!

Oh dear! I would email or telephone the Meow Mix manufacturer. Their phone number should be somewhere on the label. Explain the situation and see what they advise.

Then I would call the delivery company and emphatically complain.

Even if the food must be discarded I would think you should be reimbursed for the cost of the food and its delivery.

Many of us freeze canned food when we have excess that our cats have grown tired of or are just not in the mood to eat.  The only issue I see here is that the containers may have cracked being out in the freezing cold for so long, since I believe Meow Mix comes in plastic tubs.

I agree with Catapault in calling both the manufacturer AND the delivery company on this one.  Mainly the delivery company

I did call Amazon and told them about the frozen cat food. Customer service refunded my money for the cat food!

I then called Meow Mix--the rep was very nice--he is mailing me coupons to replace the lost cat food.

So I will be pitching the cat food just to be on the safe side.

Thanks for your comments.

Looking on the internet it says frozen canned food is safe to eat as long as you KEEP it frozen, thaw it out as needed and use. DO NOT thaw and put on the shelf, the seams could be split and allow air in. I hope this helps.
