Is there a good way to keep soft treats soft?

I use Whisker Lickin soft treats to pill both my girls (both are VERY difficult and using the soft treats wrapped around the pills takes the stress out of it, something Noodles cannot handle) and Noodles also gets Calming Treats to help with her over grooming issue.  The problem I'm having is that even in zip-lock bags things get hard after a while.  The Calming Treats only have 21 in a bag; and they still get hard toward the end of the bag.

Any tips on keeping things soft and easy to work with?  (Plus swallow for poor Noodles! I can see that she has a harder time getting them down when they are getting hard; and I only give her half at a time.)

I am not sure if this method will have the same effect with cat treats but when I have unopened brown sugar  I put it in a tupperware dish with a slice of bread and it keeps  the brown sugar nice and soft for a very long time ..

I used the moisten and mold with the same treats too! I even trick my kitty by breaking the 2 treats up into 4 pieces each and holding in my palm with the pill. She scarfs.

I think keeping them in the original packaging is better than ziploc bags, or did you mean you put them in ziploc bags while still in the original package?  The only thing I can suggest is to try to push all the air out of the bag when you seal it.   that's what I do....I lay the package down on the counter and press it down flat all the way up to the treats, then close the "zipper" on the package, so there's not much air in there.  Seems to keep them soft for a couple of months.  I've tried putting them in little tiny rubbermaid container, but that doesn't really work with the soft ones, and I thought about the bread or apple slice trick too (like for brown sugar), which might work, but also might add an unwanted flavor.  Depends on how picky your furkids are.

They both come in packaging with a zip lock closure.  They still get dried out.  I'm pilling 3 times a day right now; so it gets opened a lot.  I do remove as much air as I can.  From reading reviews on the calming treats; those are known to dry out.  The whisker lickin treats get more crumbly when they get more dried out; but I can usually make them work by pressing them more.

I may try the bread trick.  Vacuum sealing is an interesting idea.  I'll have to look into it.  That might be useful if I find a way to divide the treats.  Lately I can only find the big package of whisker lickins and even giving 6 pills a day in them; they last a bit.  Pill pockets seem to stay nice and soft; but only 1 of my cats will eat them.  But then that cat will just pick up the pill and swallow it sometimes if it falls out of the treat.
