OMG, All went great. Unfortunately, the sedative did not work. Cat probably didn't ingest enough. He was a bit sluggish and I chased him around car and opened my mudroom door and he went inside and hid in the small bathroom. I closed him up and set a trap. (It's a pocket door) I put a piece of insulation above trap and my husband held it while I went into bathroom and scared him out. Into the trap he went. I was soooo happy.

Vet thought he looked very good. Got neutered, shots and he's recuperating back in the mudroom in a big carrier. What a week. I'm exhausted. Gonna take his picture cause I'm not sure if he will ever come back. Fingers crossed. He's such a pretty guy. THANK YOU ALL for your support in this endeavor. I am a total cat fanatic and would do anything to help out the feral community. And I Have 11 to prove it.  XOX, ME
Woohoo! Great job!!

That's like....impossible for it to not work, like I said the wildest aggressive ferals turn into babies...... so he must not have eaten the entire thing. Was it broken up?

All's well regardless!!

He might disappear for a few, but might not too, but he WILL be there around for food either way, it's what he knows, and also no real harm was done either, unless he resents you for giving him the snip :) kidding...

Been away for a bit and so nice to come back to a story with a happy ending.  That's fantastic!

So happy you got him and now he is neutered?  So he didn't have any injuries?

I bet he will come back.  He might leave for a bit, but you are his food source.  Just be sure you have food/water out in his normal spots.

Keep us posted.

Good News! "New Orange" showed up just now at my front steps. Ate a little. He looked great. I really want him to be part of the family. Too bad he just comes at night, eats and leaves. Wish I could attract him to come inside. O well. At least he's back.

See that?! No harm done, and what a dramatic change this will make for his future, his life!!

Give it time, he may very well have a different way of seeing you now.

Wonderful news!  Thank you so much for the update and for all you are doing for him.  I have a feeling he may very well become part of the family now.  He just needs time to adjust.

New Orange Update. Such a great cat. Really adjusted to the other cats in the colony. But there's a problem. About month ago, he started eating very little food and drinking lots of water. Looked quite thin and his coat was not so good. He has been making such great progress, Even comes into the house and hangs out. But only to be be with the other cats. Desperate for friends. He is getting thinner by the week. Now he eats very little food. So frail. I think he's got days left to live. What do you think happened.? Cancer, kidney??? Such a shame. Finally neutered and now this. Thoughts? Missy

I'm so sorry to hear this. My first thought is that he could be diabetic, which would cause excessive thirst, but it's not common in underweight cats.

Could you trap him and take him to the vet?

I hope it's noting too serious. Are the rest of the colony OK?

the colony is great. he's also not eating much. a few bites. after speaking to the vet they thought it was kidney related. he might be old too
