Bear continues to gain weight, though he still has a ways to go. His stool is solid (though stinky and he won't burry it...!) He drinks water and is beginning to eat more of the w/d dry food, which seems to agree with him. He is still mainly syringe-fed. We've put him on the Natural Balance Duck and Green Pea which syringe feeds well and seems to be working for him. He gets a vitamin and Dr. Maggie`s in the morning. He no longer has ``cactus coat.`` He`s more mobile, he`s more interested in the world, and is definitely my roommate`s cat.
He had a blood test a couple of weeks ago, and though his liver levels are within normal range (miracles do happen folks) he`s losing protein from somewhere and is supposed to repeat the test at the end of the week. At his age, and with what`s going on, it could still be liver damage, or kidneys, or he could be losing it through his G.I. tract. The veterinarian is going to try to pin that down, and then its up to us what we do after that.
I did everything for Oliver to prolong his life and make him comfortable when his kidneys were failing, and am willing to do it for Bear, too, but I`m not going to do anything more invasive than that.
So that`s where it stands.
